All in pre, cards face up. After the river, old man points to board and says 'two pair' when it is obvious to everyone at the table. Just an OMC move I see that was described in this thread.

Here's a new one I really despise. More of an angle than a peeve.

Player makes frequent raises using all different color chips. Fine, that is legal, nothing at all wrong with it.

Player then 3 bets, and sneaks the highest denomination chip in the middle so it is not obvious that he is 3 betting, and also hard to tell the size.

End of rant.

This one gets me because I am a nit picking pedant. When a dealer starts the down with 'Good luck everyone'. We can't all have good luck, we are playing each other.

I point this out every time. For some reason, I am not well liked at the table.

Perhaps he doesn't want - heart attacks at the table, chipstacks being knocked over, shorting the fries with the blts, etc.

I agree, but my issue is this--Why would I want villain to have good luck when he is at my table? For that reason I never wish someone good luck. As someone who believes in what the PPA is doing to get some respect for poker, I don't want to talk about luck, or gambling, at all.

That's why Doyle Brunson successfully petitioned the International Skills Game organization to include poker along with go, chess and other games of skill. That's why the PPA is arguing in front of state judges that poker should be treated as a game of skill, not as gambling. That's why I don't want to hear anything about poker gods or lucky hands.

I appreciated so much Mario Ho's commentary on the Heartland Poker episode. She never talked about poker gods or lucky hands or any of that crap. If there is so much luck in poker, how have players like Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Mike Sexton continued to be consistent winners for 30 or 40 years?

If a fish thinks he's losing because of his bad luck, he'll keep playing to try to turn it around. If he sucks out and wins a big pot, he's going to think he's a poker god and keep playing poorly.

Emphasizing the short term luck aspect of poker *at the table* is good for the game.

You can all have good luck if your table hits a bad beat jackpot.

How do you know they are? I've never seen actual profit lists, merely how much they cashed.

Also poker is gambling. By definition.

You’re not alone on this one. I’ve pointed out that the only way we can all have good luck is to hit the bad beat, but that’s not what they’re referring to with that glib greeting.

I don't say good luck but I do say have fun. Is that bad? I know a lot of you aren't going to actually have fun.

I've always considered this thread a "How-To" for live poker, but never realized until now that I could tilt an entire table with a "Good luck, everyone."

Best way to do that is, every time you suck out on someone, exclaim, “I was actually the favorite.”
