I think poker rooms should charge for a new setup. Max rake for one hand plus a dollar to the dealer if you get a new setup.

They should just not allow setup requests at all, unless there is an actual problem with the cards, and if someone deliberately damages the cards, remove him from the room. In Atlantic City they don't allow setup requests and just replace any damaged cards individually, and the system works just fine.

Also they should have a sort of alarm bell going off saying "MORON SPOTTED" that can be heard throughout the casino every time someone does it.

There was a semi-reg in my game who wore only sandals and had smelly feet. Enough people were grossed out to complain to the managers who informed him of the problem. His solution? He brought a can of Lysol and sprayed his feet often. Yes, that fixed it ok! Lysol smell all over the place. Thank goodness he doesn't show up anymore.

Unless it has changed since I moved away, TS had banned setup requests from the raked games, but was still allowing them in the time games, where they are far worse.

Do you also ignore dress codes at weddings etc? Are you the one that is wearing his "nice" t-shirt because he doesn't feel like wearing a tie?

Setup's are essentially banned by law in Maryland which is nice. I once noticed all the Aces in one deck were marked - looked like a fingernail impression. Took me a bit to convince the dealer but when he was convinced he called the floor who removed all the aces from the deck and brought us 4 new cards.

First time I've heard of a dress code at a US casino. This ain't Monaco, tuxes are not required.

Most weddings don't have an official dress code either, it's just understood (by most).

Depends on the wedding. Last one I went to, all the men wore sandals.

I didn't say there was. Just trying to figure out how civilized he is. Other than for practical purposes you don't wear clothes outside for your own sake; it's for others. You dress up to make it pleasant for others to look at you.

I see folks in flip-flops and sweaters/sweatshirts or jackets all the time in Arizona casinos/poker rooms. Too cold (inside) for me to do that. Closed toes shoes and a hat are minimum requirements for my own comfort. As for what others are wearing, as long as I'm not seeing beans n peener, I'm ok.

Maybe your standards are a bit high if wearing flip flops are in general a sign of being uncivilized. Lol seriously?

In The People's Republic of Texas, "Formal" written on wedding invitation means that pockets shouldn't show at the bottom of cutoffs. But it doesn't really distinguish between bare feet and flip flops.

It happens much more in lower limit cash games, when you see the table jam packed full of old regs with their neatly pressed clothes from TJ Maxx or Ross grinding away their social security checks (2-4 to 3-6 limit hold em, mostly 2-4), there was this one old nasty woman at Commerce (if you have ever been a reg there in the past 5 years you know who I am talking about) who use to scream for it like clockwork at regular intervals the moment the floor would allow her to. Like clockwork.

Like she did it right next to me a few times and I was so startled the first time I heard it. I had never heard someone yell so loud. She was so miserable. My mom told me a story about winning a huge pot off her and then her staring her down like she wanted to fight but then just walked off........................................ But I always got along with her LOL
I'll try not to be one of those people. I should get my first social security check in November.

You are perpetuating unfair stereotypes about Texans. Form really refers to whether you wear your fancy nickle plated revolver, or the standard blued EDC revolver.

I'm civilized enough that when I do where shoes (and I'm a sneaker head btw), that my shoes match what I'm wearing.. but I live in FL, born and raised, and sandals are as common as sun glasses when going outside.

There's a difference between dressing up and looking presentable, nobody is saying people should wear suits to a casino. But going out in public (aside from beaches or gyms etc.) wearing sweatpants and t-shirts is pretty pathetic. Every time I fly or play poker I see yahoos wearing clothes better suited for sleeping than being seen in public.

If nothing else, it's a matter of showing some respect to those around you. And having some respect for yourself. For the record, I don't own a suit either. But I do dress respectably when in public.

People with self respect tend to have a certain standard in how they take care of themselves. Now, I always wear jeans and a solid colored t-shirt when I play. But I usually shower before I head out, and the jeans are clean and the t-shirt is not faded and is unwrinkled. Yes, you don't have to over dress and look pretentious, but how you look is part of who you are. Take pride in that.

That being said, I do not have flip flop or sandal hate. As long as everything is clean and not ratty, it is fine.

But I do own several suits. Had to get them for the job. Turned out I like the way I look in a nice suit.
