I'm gonna go ahead and say Rounders quotes are the most annoying to me, as well as fake Teddy KGB accents. I cannot imagine how sick the dealers get of this.

Being card dead and knowing that how much you're folding will still not allow you to steal a pot.

I wish they would ban sunglasses. I have a pair of sunglasses that when I wear them I can easily detect oil markings on anything, so whats to prevent people from using them to cheat in a casino.

Yep, got it figured out.
Playing with a guy in the 10 seat and I was in the 7 seat. He is wearing sunglasses, but he apparently didn't realize that when he looked at his cards, I could see exactly what he had because his shades were like mirrors. Thanks for hiding the tells. LOL.

Re: live poker pet peeves.

basically anytime someone opens their mouth I'm annoyed, but my top peeve is when someone shoves for lets say $100 bucks and the person they are in the pot with needs an exact count. the chips are colored for a reason, pretty sure most stacks can be ballparked.

Dude who counts out his bet or raise very carefully, only to splash them all over as he bets, making the dealer have to count the chips again.

Using the dousche move of wanting to see someone's hand that just lost the pot on showdown. Some people have no class, or clue as to how to act at a poker table.

When someone says "Oh, You're going to deal us the BBJ, right?" everytime a new dealer sits down, and then proceeds to talk about "wanting to hit the BBJ" every 5 minutes.

When someone is making a raise, and they say "re-raise". No one else has raised! You can't re-raise a call!!

Having my wife sit at the same table. She's not annoying but the fact that it makes it really hard to do too much betting or moves when she's in the pot is. I'm not playing to win my own money. It's much worse when she's seated 4 seats or less to my left. There go my blind steals for the night

When seemingly decent players complain about things in a game they make money playing.

LOL, I hate old people giving you the stare. I always raise when I'm opening (ldo) and every time I do, all the old guys at the table simultaneously turn their heads and glare at me for a few seconds. It's funny, like watching a bunch of pigeons minding their own business then all of the sudden all turning their heads to look at one thing.

So when you clicked on this thread entitled "live poker pet peeves" how long did it take you to realize that this thread had posts in it about *gasp* "live poker pet peeves".

Mine is:
UTG makes a big raise.
Dealer: Raise to $100.
Fold, Fold, Fold, guy in MP throws out $2
Dealer: Sorry, Sir. It is $100 to you.
Old Fart: Who raised?

Uhhhhh, the only guy with cards and a huge stack of chips across the bet line.

I am annoyed by the micro checkers. They flex a fingernail and are surprised when the table is waiting for them to act.

I hate it when someone calls a 3 bet with hands like J5 and hit trip 5s, bust aces and everyone tells them how well they played it.

Re: live poker pet peeves.

i'm pretty thick skinned to almost anything at a poker table, i've seen it all so nothing really gets under my skin but there is one thing that does.

when i pull off a huge bet bluff on the river with dangerous boards on a guy whos been folding and playing smart all night, and instead of folding, they say "oh well i suppose its about time to get back to the wife and dog" and they call with 4th pair, and i ****ing lose my stack cuz he chose right now in the middle of this hand to go home.

i struggle so hard to contain myself when this **** happens, i usually get up and take a 5 min walkabout the casino or something. i have a strategy against calling stations. i have a strategy against ultra nits. how can i possibly develop a strategy for a guy who decides after my river bet all in bluff that he wants to go home to his wife. sigh.

Re: live poker pet peeves.

I can not stand when someone does not know its there turn to act and they are like "oh its on me" It just slows down the whole game.

Also it has been mentioned before, In a ring game when players not even in the hand call a clock. A clock was only used in tourney play, now it seems others do it at the cash table all the time now.

About a year ago I was sitting down at the Magestic in Indiana, it was my fouth hand at that table that was short to begin with. There was only 5 of us seated late night on a 1/2 NL table. I get put in the position to make a call for my stack on fouth street and I was thinking it out. All of a sudden this guy not even in the hand called for the floor and a clock. I was shocked because I was only thinking for like 60 seconds. I explaned that to the floor and he said clock stands and he started counting down.

I turned to the hack that called clock and said you are not even in the hand, are you in that big of a hurry to lose your stack to the rest of us??

I called it though a hour and a half into it he went bust at the table.

Re: live poker pet peeves.

My lists for these always vary over time. Some things that used to bother me don't bother me because I've got used to them or thicker skinned. But, new ones always seem to pop up:
  • Complaining that online poker is rigged.
  • I run a 50 cent dollar game where I give everyone standard 10 fifty-cent chips, 10 dollar chips, and then a variable amount of five dollar chips to complete their buy-in. This one guy SPECIFICALLY requests to NOT have any fifty-cent or dollar chips. I'm like wtf?! How are you going to complete the small blind or big blind. You guessed it, he makes change every round. A variation on that is at least one or two more different players at least take the chips but proceed to always call bets with the lowest amount when they could more easily pay with higher amounts and still keep their smaller chips. You guess it, they end up making change with other players a lot.
  • At the end of the night when I cash someone out, I ask them to count their chips, write down the amount, but not tell me while I do an unbiased, independent count to compare. A surprisingly high number of people always like to tell me the number before I ask for it
  • Dealers who don't rap before the flop, turn, or river - you guessed it, betting wasn't over ... oh no, now what?!
  • For some reason, many players will show up late to my game and when I ask them what they want to buy-in for, they ask, "What is everyone ELSE buying in for". Where to start on this one? Number 1, the answer is usually always, "different amounts". Number 2, you can see the chips on the table to figure it out on your own. Number 3, does it really matter? If you want to buy-in short, buy-in short. If you want to buy-in full, buy-in full. If you want to buy-in somewhere in between, do that. You can only win what other opponents cover and you can't control their buy-in.
  • Although I usually find it humorous or entertaining, sometimes I get tired of hearing players justify their bad play in ways that are obviously not valid - having to call because they were pot committed when they weren't, having to call because they had a feeling their card was going to hit when it did, having to call because they put you on that hand, or explaining they KNEW you had the winning hand ... if you KNEW I had the winning hand, then you probably should have folded.
  • Commentary on the board about possible flushes or straights during a hand.
