Superstition bothers me the most. "Wash the cards." "Change the deck." "7s are hot tonight." "I want that seat, it's really lucky." For ****s sake, grow up!

When someone laughs at me for not using the usual poker lingo. One time I called it a lap instead of an orbit and some people thought I was hilariously dumb. I know it's called an orbit, but I wanted to say something else.

I moved the discussion re whether Rob_Banks was being disrespectful and whether he should wait until his turn to look at his cards to its own thread here:

I know this has been stated, but everyone, PLEASE wash your hands after going to the bathroom. That's cool that you feel your hands aren't dirty, but not everybody at the table wants to touch your d*** germs too.

In every friendly home game I've ever played in:

Newbie: "I fold"
Nice person: "You can just check, maybe you can see another card for free"
Newbie: "Nah, I still fold"

Obviously good for the game but it irks me that they always stick to their guns and fold .

Must move shenanigans...

In one week at the same game I saw 1 player who I consider a total legend who seems to always have all the chips mysteriously not on the list for main game ..so ya I'm accusing him of purposely staying at the must move. This is an angle of some sort in my opinion.

Another player loud obnoxious degen reg who's always talking about horses proceeded to get to main game before me despite coming to must move well after me. The strangest part about this was he left the table and no name was called for the next must move. It took me 2 hours to move and I didn't realize he leap frogged me until I went to main game.

Both of these happened at Foxwoods 2-5plo..

This game seems to draw shenanigans... like the time I tripled up went to lunch they closed the table. I literally ate for 20 mins come back and I had been picked up. I got annoyed and decided to leave at that point, by the time I cashed out and went to the door to leave they re-called the game. There should be a 1/2 hour or hour rule like online sites have which allow me to bring my stack back to the game.

Or the time they called a new game and I was 1 of 3 players to immediately show up, I put my card in the 10 seat like I always do (I remphasize table was empty)... I go to get chips come back to see someone in my seat. He had excersized his right to the 10 seat because he was higher on the list. Never seen anyone do this in my life. This one is within the rules so not as big of a deal.

And then there's the time at Mohegan someone paid me $60 to not take the must move seat...

Just more reasons why I prefer not dealing with people in live poker and rather just play online

Delusional, abrasive tilting mega-fish who use intermediate-to-advanced poker terms at the table for image purposes.

friggin players that have to display their "superior knowledge of the game"

had a girl as I sat down was berating a guy who just lost a huge pot to another guy.."why shove there? your only getting called by better?"..

but the best was she open raised after 3 limps to 13x lol WTF...obviously the table folded including my 77...

a few orbits later everyone started straddling...and the guy who started it..said...oooh round of straddles? she pipes up "not me...its the worst bet in poker"

i thought to myself "as bad as opening 13x?" lmao

loser

I can tolerate those bad players who think they are good because they tend to bleed chips, but once they start driving off other fish and doing stuff like being the only one to not straddle, that's when I get annoyed.

When they start abusing other players (especially less experienced ones), I usually say something. Has nothing to do with being positive +EV to keep inexperienced players around, I just hate anyone being a jackass to people who can't defend themselves. My response may range from 'Let's just play poker' to pointing out every mistake they made in whatever hand they are harping on. Yes, i know this is a leak, but at that point I am not usually thinking about poker

Learn to embrace 7's are hot tonight. It's great for the game. Heck, table games are built on the 7's are hot tonight mentality. Encourage it at every opportunity.

I tend to encourage all those superstitions - specially "7s are hot". I love having half the table calling raises with Q7o because "7s are hot".

And "this seat is unlucky" is another one I encourage. I'd rather the weak players blame their losing on the seat and not their play because if they think they're playing bad they might play better or leave.

"7s are hot" kind of superstitions are definitely good for the table. I'll happily get a bit loose with A7o and 97s if it means keeping that kind of table together a few hours longer.

to make another point of the "superior knowledge" I had a kid (obviously about 18...thought he was king ****...nerdy kid...with beats headphones around his neck..etc) at a 1/2 game was in a hand with an older guy (who was a fish).....and ended up winning the hand...he turned and asked him "would you have stacked off if I shoved there" the guy goes...(genuinly) "what does that mean??" the kid goes "stacked off you know" the guy goes "uh no...what does that mean.." lol

later another fish was contemplating calling an open raise..then folded...the kid pipes up..."not getting the right odds to set-mine" the guy was so unsure of what it meant...but said..."yeah"

dude stfu....goes right up my arse...

This one has to have been mentioned before, but it just came up two nights ago so I'm posting it...

The player at the table who is spring loaded to say "Good luck all-in" whenever someone goes all-in. I kind of get it in a tournament, where someone's tournament life is on the line. But in a cash game? And every. single. time.

So one guy puts his last $17 in. Guy on my left immediately blurts out "Good luck all-in" as if someone had administered an electric shock to him. Fold, fold, then another player shoves and now the guy on my left says "Good luck to you too." I wonder who gets the better luck here.

Totally agree......I don't know why this pisses me off so bad but it does.

Honestly, I'd wash my hands BEFORE going to the bathroom also. Wouldn't want to touch my d*** after passing chips around for a while...

Players who lie about their hand after the hand is over even tho no one asked them about it.

Eating with mouth open. Can't imagine who might do that around here(Vancouver).

When I say, "good luck"(when I'm not in the hand) because I don't mean it and I can hear in my voice that I don't mean it.

Constant acting out of turn and constantly trying to keep cards hidden at show down even tho they are first to act/opening one card only.

BTW, why do so many players utg wait until the last card is dealt before looking at their cards? I guess a card might get flashed but many hands are getting folded no matter what. They are slowing the game down(by 2 seconds I know but still).

To see what others' reactions are to their cards before acting.

They are not even looking at other players. They aren't looking at faces. They are looking at the ceiling and casually following the flying cards in their peripheral vision. However, you may be right if they think they're supposed to watch others reactions but are too lazy to do it and instead just put the time in.

I wish dealers would say, "under the gun" as soon as the utg player got his second card as a way of driving action and speeding up the game.

I usually state "Two to go" as soon as I pitch UTG's second card.
