A few people have mentioned smelly players, but the one that gets me the most is when the guy next to me decides to suck down a cigarette in 20 seconds then sits back down and smells like he just got done chain smoking a whole carton. I have gagged a few times from that. Thank goodness they can't smoke at the table anymore.
I really hate the talkers that want to talk poker. Seems silly, but I don't care what you just folded or what a great call you think you made. I don't mind those that try to start conversations about non-poker topics though (except sports
)
- asking for new setups because you are running bad
- and a big +1 for everyone who mentioned the idiots who won't show their cards when the hand is done, i.e. you lost, stop staring at your cards and muck them already. same goes for the flip-over-showdown.
- berating other players constantly really gets to me too. I can understand the occasional "how did you call with that", but not constantly directing attacks at them. When I lived in KC, Harrahs was the juicy game in town and there were a few regs who did this constantly and nobody did anything because they were regulars and knew the floor staff fairly well. I'm talking getting verbal to the point of full on intimidation.
When they would try to do it to me I'd just tick them off even more by looking at them and smirking. I have to admit sometimes I'd induce a full blown tilt and then watch them spew chips to everyone at the table.
- Players who think they are being sneaky by putting their high denomination chip stacks behind their low ones. It is usually against the rules, but hardly anyone says anything.
- People who think I'm being an ass because I don't show them my cards after they mucked.
- Someone mentioned people who have the nuts or 2nd nuts and don't turn their cards up in an all-in situation. That annoys me too, so much that I always turn mine over pretty quick after making sure there is no action left. The quicker the hand gets over, the better.
