Welcome to the 2017 edition of the Live Casino Poker Forum Low-Content & Chat Tread.

This is where your low-content posts belong.

Well, your lower than usual posts. Otherwise the rest of the forum would be pretty empty.

As is the custom, there will be cake ...

Milk will be provided. If you are lactose intolerant, there will be "Flint" brand bottled water.

For those of you into nostalgia, here is last year's low content thread.

That picture of cake that you posted looks a lot like Boston Cream Pie imo.

In Boston they make their pies out of cake? That's weird. Do they bake their cakes in pie pans?

Not any I have ever seen or had. Btw that is where my in laws hail from, so I have seen and had a few over the years.

Seems I may have been too hasty. Here is what we always had...http://sweets.seriouseats.com/assets...uto-236621.jpg

But looking at the other images you may be correct.

In fact, the Boston Cream Pie is not a pie at all, but a two layer golden cake filled with pastry cream. The Boston Cream Pie has been distinguished as Massachusetts’ official state dessert over Toll House Cookies and the Fig Newton.

Heard at a 1/2 nl table in a casino last night. Betting goes to river, where player 1 makes a pot size bet and player 2 calls, which puts him all in. Board is K Q 2 9 8.

Player 1 tables J 10. Dealer announces straight
Player 2 tables A J. Dealer announces Ace high and starts to muck player 2s hand.
Player 2 says wait, I have a straight.
Dealer says no, you would need a 10.
Player 2 says what about the 2?
Dealer pauses with a sort of WTF look on his face.
Player next to player 2, apparently his friend, quietly says to player 2: 2's aren't wild here.
Player 2 says Oh,
dealer mucks cards and pushes pot without further comment and keeping a great poker face

Ditto.

C'mon guys, even with wrap-around straights in play, seat 2 would have easily seen that an ace-high straight beats a deuce-high one. :-P

Yes, the Boston Cream Pie is a cake. I'll work on that name after I figure out how to explain

sloppy joe vs sloppy joe

Yikes! Where do they call a club sandwhich a sloppy joe?

Club sandwich? That's a ****ing club mountain. I'm hungry...

There is simply no normal human that could finish off that mountain of food along with the garnish in the middle. That's enough to feed a family of four.

I think you might be the only one who didn't know that's a catering/party platter.

Ones that big are hard to eat unless you can unhinge your jaw like a python. I always have to try to take half a bite, then the bread isn't holding it together and it falls apart in my hand.

Growing up a Jew in Central Jersey, I always expected a Sloppy Joe to have thin slices of bread, deli meats, some cole slaw and Russian dressing. A 'special occasion' catering platter. Still go to my parents on New Year's Day to watch football and have Sloppy Joes. No problem to polish off a couple of triangles, and even a third one

Perhaps, but it's more likely an East Coast speciality that stops soon after you go west past the mighty Mississippi.

Actually it is more of a New Jersey specialty.
01-09-2017 , 09:48 PM
I live in NJ and I have never heard that called a sloppy Joe.

I think it's safer to say that as soon as you start climbing 'that' mountain heading west into PA that it switches to the 'classic' shredded beef or pork in bbq/tomato sauce ala 'Manwich' style. I'm guessing that the Ivy League schools wouldn't be caught dead tailgating unless there was a toothpick holding their sandwich together!! GL

Be very careful. Some of those Ivy League representatives might be here in this thread, considering whether to perma-ban you.
