How's level of play in Europe? I heard people say that live poker 1$/2$ stakes are equivalent to 1cent/2cent online, does that apply to EU live poker?

hey, it really depends on the venue/type of cardamom, but equivalence between 1/2 euros to 1/2 cents is not the case, sorry.

The play in Paris, Cassis, and La Ciotat was pretty bad when I was there the past couple of years. However, the rake is unbeatable (it's ~4% or 5% and uncapped, at least in Paris).

Where did you play at and what online poker stake is most similar to where you played in terms of toughness?

People beat online microstakes, where many sites have rake like that. Live play is even softer. Just don't try to make a living.

I'm playing in Amsterdam, mostly at the casino.. Also, I play at cardrooms in Greece - the level there is even greater.
From my little experience online, I can say that a good live 1/2 there, looks more like an average 0.25/0.50 at pokerstars. But as I said it really depends..eg. at the casino in the heart of Amsterdam, you can always find 2-3 noob players/tourists at the table, and you can easily avoid the regs there.. At the cardroom in Greece on the other hand, players there are all regulars so level is higher.. but we're always talking for 1/2 live level, whatever that means..

Surprisingly enough, that's a poor question where there's no one answer. I'm not sure how you arrive at generalising an entire continent so hugely, but yeah, anyway, as with anywhere, the play in Europe varies by country and within countries. Weak players everywhere, regulars everywhere, smallest stakes are soft...

If you go further into it, I think 1/2 on average is probably slightly "tougher" (less soft, but similar) in Europe than US, one speculative reason is that £1 or €1 is worth more to an average European than $1 is to the same average person in the US. You'll see 0.50/1 or 1/1 here which is the same level as US 1/2, for example. Anything below 2/5 will invariably be soft unless you're at an unlucky table.
