No, but it's still not called a fold, it's called checking out. And if the dealer is doing his job, it's followed by a warning not to do that anymore.

It's a fold out of turn. Maybe you call it checking out but that's almost certainly not "what it's called".

Folding out of turn is clearly against the rules of poker, and well run rooms do not allow it, regardless of what it's called.

I only used the checking out terminology because that's the terminology MJ88 used.

My point was that the reason he calls it something other than "fold" was because it is clearly different from a legal fold in turn.

It’s called checking out because in stud if you fold without facing a bet you still have to receive an upcard until someone bets.

When Brad Pitt is teaching movie stars how to play poker in the beginning of Ocean's 11, there are multiple instances of "I will see your xxx, and raise you xxx more." Ironic considering he's trying to, you know, teach them poker.
