I am an European. Where in US to grind NL 2/5? I am an European. Where in US to grind NL 2/5?

Hi there!

I plan on going to the US and grind some NL 2/5 and NL 5/10 this year. I plan on staying for about one month every trip and I also plan on making 3-4 trips in a year.

I have already been in Vegas and I would like to go somewhere else this time- maybe Florida or California? But maybe renting a place to sleep will be too expensive?

So...it there a place you would suggest for me? 1) cheap rooms (airnb or similar) need just a bed and a shower 2) close to the poker room so that I can grind everyday without paying too much for transport 3) poker room should have good games every night

Any recommendations?

Thank you!

The United States is huge, it's like asking where in Europe can you find a 2/5 game.

What area(s) are you interested in going? Most major metros are going to have many 2/5 options.

As a California native, I can tell you that you can find a good selection of 2/5 in the LA area, San Diego, and the SF bay area. The Tahoe/Reno area will also have some.

For consistent 'daily' 2/5 AND 5/10 really narrows it down IMO. I would suggest downloading the Bravo App and watching some of the casinos in an area you might want to visit.

In the midwest (Chicago/Detroit/Milwaukee/Pittsburgh/Cincinnati/St Louis there are usually 2 to 4 2/5 tables going but 5/10 only runs maybe one day a week and then maybe on weekends. Some of the 2/5 games play 5/10 deep just because 5/10 isn't running or spread at that time.

Horseshoe Hammond (Chicago) is tough since there really isn't very good housing near by and getting to the city takes time. But there is a free shuttle from various parts of Chicago to the casino that you could take advantage of.

Do you play PLO? Detroit action can be crazy deep and they usually have a 2/5 RxR going at one of the three casinos in the area .. and don't forget Windsor Canada isn't too far away either.

Do you want to be on the Internet? Check out the Bicycle Casino in LA and sign up for a "Live at the Bike" session while you are in the area. They have all levels of poker live for 4 hours a night from Tuesday to Friday on Twitch.tv. With the Commerce also in LA there is plenty of poker going 24 hours a day ... again, check the Bravo App.

Another way to find bigger games would be to 'follow' the tournament series around. Either WSOPc or WPT usually have 2 weeks of events leading up to their ME. Of course, most tournament series shut down for May and June since 'everybody' is in Vegas for the WSOP. If you were to return to Vegas, that's the time to do it. Big cash games and tournaments everyday at 'every' casino.

As is usually the case on this site .. Are you looking to play poker or are you looking to visit a certain area of the country? Yes, you can do both, but I think it's more important to have 'something' outside the casino when/if you hit a rough patch in the games. GL

Commerce casino in LA, has 5/10 games going everyday. So they obviously have 5/5 games going everyday as well. As answer20 mentioned, you can check out the number of live games going on there on the Bravo app. The Bicycle casino is also only 4 miles away. You can check out the number of live games going on there on the pokeratlas website. You can also see info on the other 3 LA casinos Hollywood Park, Hustler and Hawaiian Gardens on there, although it doesn't have current live games going for those 3 like it does for the Bicycle casino. As far as renting a room only, that shouldn't be too much if all you need is that and a shower. Start a trip report on here whenever/wherever you decide to go.

Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT has a huge poker room that ALWAYS has multiple games/types going on. Plus you can get rooms there for cheap and can qualify for discounted rooms.

Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT is nearby as well. This is where I play. The poker room isnt as big but its good enough.

In addition to all of this, its also closest to Europe and close to NYC and Boston as well if you decide to branch out while youre here.

MGM National harbor in Maryland, just outside of D.C. had a large poker room, with a lot of 2/5, that runs everyday.

If you could stand a car rental you probably could find a month long rental about 25 minutes from Horseshoe Hammond IN that would be safe.

Having a car would allow you to explore the Chicagoland area on the days off and visit the other rooms in the area.

If you rent a place just make it on the south side of I-80.

Stay away from southern Chicago, East Chicago IN and Gary IN also. Not safe and remember Chicago has stupid ridiculous amounts of gang violence and shootings with lots of collateral damage. You can be ok there but you need to know how to “behave” and being from Europe that may not be a skill you currently have.

Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey (on the Jersey shore) is one of the best rooms in United States which also has 5/10 running more often then most other rooms.

MGM National Harbor in Maryland, outside of Washington DC (which is capital of United States, great place for visit) is a great room and also within driving distance to Maryland Live and the Horseshoe Baltimore

I am talking about finding a place in Munster, IN. That is a fine/safe community. Less than 30 mins from the Horseshoe.

Like I said Southside of I-80 around there is fine.

I agreed I was only adding some specifics and reasons. Munster is certainly a reasonable and safe choice. As is parts of southbend IN
