This has happened to me once, I put up with for a half hour, eventually another player confirmed it was outrageous. I quietly mentioned it to the floor who approached the gentleman, and the man stood and left quickly after a short conversation.

I do find it crazy how often a person sitting near you at the table smells like ****. I always ask for a seat change and then give the smelly guy a look like "yeah because of you you smelly POS"

Had a gigantic fat guy sit next to me at Aria, dressed all in black polyester. So big his forearms were the size of my thighs. Easily over 400 pounds. Stunk to high heaven. I left soon after. Couldn't take it.

Agree, smells almost exactly like dog**** to me. And yet amazingly the smokers are seemingly immune to the stench of their own necrotic lung tissue...

Be aware that to a lot of people you actually smell quite awful.

I'll tag onto this one - an Indian guy sat down beside me and had BO so bad I played one more hand and left. Disgusting. It was after 2 AM, so was leaving soon anyway, but it sounds like floor is the right person to contact. Do these people not even smell themselves or they do but don't think it's terrible?

This is why I laugh at people that complain the poker room is too cold. Cold and less BO >>> everyone hot and sweaty

The ultimate worst breath is from tonsil stones. Fact. Poker players, check your f'n tonsils for nasty white **** with a flashlight and a qtip. It's disgusting to be around and it smells like you're chewing on an old turd. I've actually had to tell Matt Savage to have his commerce tourney dealers brush their teeth and check their tonsils because the **** is so rank and actually puts me off my game.

Nothing covers up the pot smoke and BO better then patchouli. And as a benefit, some people are really offended by the patchouli. Win/win.

The other night seat 6 suddenly recoiled and started complaining about the strong smell. Did someone s*** themselves? OH MY GOD THAT'S HORRIBLE!

Nobody else said anything. Every once in a while he'd make another comment about it, again nobody else said a word. Eventually he leaves the table. Seat 9 says "I don't know what he's talking about, I don't smell anything!"

It was seat 9's breath. Every time he let out a big sigh it would hit seat 6 like a ton of bricks. People have told him about his breath before but he doesn't think it's a problem.

I have a policy of always accepting mints or gum when offered to me by another player. I figure there's a chance I'm the reason he's anxious to share them and if I'm not maybe by taking one I might make it more likely for the real culprit to do the same.

Here's one for the books. I think it was actually life span -EV sitting down next to the guy, but little did I know until it was too late. This occurred at a pretty popular Las Vegas Casino.

I sat down at seat 6 at a 1/3 game and directly to my right is this mid 50s heavier set guy with a tshirt and loose boy shorts on wearing sandals. He had a european accent, but other than his unusual boy shorts he didnt look out of the ordinary.

Immediately I noticed that there's this semi-rank faint cheese scent that i can only guess was like someones bleu cheese on a salad or something that was left around or on the floor. it's really faint, so i dont think much of it.

After about a orbit in I run to the cage to grab some change and after returning, the odor gets stronger, and i begin to look around while not in the hand. I begin to think is it someone who has stinky feet and took their shoes off, what could it be...

Then I see the European guy, while in a hand, go through this cycle of shuffling chips with one hand, then move to biting his nails, then back to shuffling chips, then going to scratch his junk in-between the boy shorts before going back to shuffling chips and biting his nails again.

I've never been so repulsed before I actually felt myself wanting to throw up a little bit. I literally shot out of my seat and went to the bathroom to wash hands, find hand sanitizer and then notify the floor, who said to me "oh no... is he doing that again?". Shortly after he leaves and I was informed that the entire table had been putting up with it since he was donating tons of cash all around.

Granted, this was about 5 years ago, it's something i very much vividly still remember.

So next time, think twice where those poker chips get the grime.

Live poker can be annoying. Likely it was worse in the old days. Folks bathed and such much less then. If it's really bad I just seat change (politely) or even give it up for the session.

Sometimes I really don't mind not having a sense of smell

I did spritz a guy with perfume actually (long story). I never enter a poker room without a perfume-scented handkerchief to keep under my nose in case I run into another hygiene-challenged player. Which is like every game ever played by anyone ever.

as a business guy who has to worry about drug testing it infuriates me when someone next to me smells like that freshest green and yet, I have to lay off - society has forced me to be too straight edge. Soon it will be legal everywhere though muhahhahaa!!

Being legal doesn’t mean you can partake. When if legal here I will not be allowed. And when I was younger and went to field more you would not want me doing so.
