Guys what are rakes at your game?
Assuming private game, what rakes do you have?
10/20 and up

idk about private games but in a casino it would be a time charge something like 8-12 bucks a half hour I imagine.

As of about 6 months ago they were raking $8 per half hour down in S Florida at the two places I played that offered bigger games. That was an increase from $7/down about a year and a half ago.

I think they might charge more for private games.

Higher stakes games typically pay time since the game is slower. One Chicago Room charges $11/30 min down. You don't charge more rake just because there's more chips on the table .. rake is rake.

But if the HR Players are getting perks of some sort .. food/drink .. then the rake usually reflects that somehow. LOTS of Home Games in my area charge $10/hand but also provide basically anything the Players want within reason. GL

This is a private underground game we're talking, so rake ranges from zero to 10% uncapped each hand plus whatever the dealer can sneak out.

Yeah, but don't worry because...

Maybe we can get by with a good manager and few staff, high end clients who won't steal
He's only going to have people around who won't steal, so it'll all be okay.

What is an unacceptable tournament rake? What is the average rake - or what we come to expect from most poker rooms? thx

It depends on the stakes. The $10,000 main event rake was around 7% this year. An average $400 tournament might be closer to 17% rake. A $40 tournament might rake 25% or more.

What's unacceptable is pretty much a function of how bad the competition is and how much of an edge you have. If the rake's much higher than the numbers quoted above I wouldn't enter though.

Yes .. function of BI size and the number of entries expected with a sprinkle of 'what can we get away with'. While I'm sure the Boss wants everything to be profitable I wouldn't doubt that a lot of 'dailies' offered have the worst performance 'on paper' with the expectations that the Players will play cash before or after the event.

MI Charity Room .. $125 .. $25 rake, $100 Prize Pool .. Easy math because there's always a few Players who dissect the payouts as soon as they are posted. GL

Like everything in poker--it depends. Mostly on buy-in size and also how competitive the market is. A $75 nightly tournament in Iowa is going to be raked proportionately more than a $600 special series tournament in Vegas.

Every year I compile data about all the Hold'em/Omaha tournaments in Vegas during the summer. Part of that is the rake (I call it Vig%--amount of buy-in not going to the prize pool) and I make a comparison page based on the aggregate data:
