Hard Rock Las Vegas "Trash Talkin' Tuesdays" Hard Rock Las Vegas "Trash Talkin' Tuesdays"

I predict this game will end come to a bad end. It will be just like kids playing with sharp objects, it's all in fun until someone loses an eye.

PS. Just because Hardrock decides to have a trash talking game, that doen't transform B&M into a trash talking forum.

PSS. I have a dealer friend that has already emailed their poker room manager offering to pay his own way to Vegas and deal this game for free.

Maybe its me but this really seems like a desperate attempt to get traffic in an otherwise pretty dead room.

i don't know if i'd call it desperate, in all fairness i believe whoever came up with this thinks it's actually a good idea and most likely also thinks that trash talking is "part of the game" and should be embraced.

i'd like to see a poker room give people money for being polite. $1/hr if you're an ass, $1.50/hr if you're a nice person. one snarky comment and the dealer gets to keep your 50 cents for that hour. i bet you that would work a lot better than this crappy promotion will.

Practically, you're right. Idealistically, people should know better than to bring their girlfriends to sweat them at such a game.

I couldn't make it the other night. Did anyone die this week?

It took 3 of us to pull him away from climbing over the bar after her LOL. Yes, he would have hit a woman that insulted his mother.
Your friend is pretty ******ed, but still a great example of why this game isn't such a good idea.

The game on Tuesday was a complete success. No problems at all. A bunch of full games. Everyone respected the rules. We included this in the updated rules:

Bad sportsmanship expected!
(Please limit trash talking to how horrible your opponents play, speak and dress,
but PLEASE LEAVE OUT race, religion, mother, girlfriend, sister, threats etc.)

By 4am, the main game enjoyed about $8000 average stack.

I would gladly throw the 50 cents directly at your face every hour if it meant I could behave as I please.

Finally a game where you don't have to worry about uptight dicks who want to throw punches because you waited 4 seconds to turn over your second pair FTW.

EDIT: Upon further reading...no mother jokes seriously? Whats the point?

Do the dealers trash talk also?

Please note that "Trash Talking" should be limited to the POKER LOUNGE, not the casino pit, even if you see Phil Ivey throwing dice...

trash talking games do not extend to the B&M forum or this thread. if we have to continue to delete posts the thread, and in turn any ability for the regulars to promote the game, will be lost.

Keep it clean guys, the B&M forum FAQ still applies.

Hey sanford are you ever gonna try this out at a 1/2 table? Maybe designate a special table for it...

So disappointed I don't get to try this -- I probably would barely even trash talk now that ethnic slurs are banned (the best way to tilt somebody is with a well-placed n-word, or similar), but it would be so much fun to watch.

We were talking about making a "junior" 1 2 version (and enforce no curse words or the violator would have to pay a penalty of some sort) haha trash talking PG-13. But after talking about it with some of the regulars, we think limiting this theme to the higher stakes is a good way to help promote 2 5 action for Hard Rock's beautiful poker room.

We are also looking to add a "no ipod" rule. I mean it's the Hard Rock for chrissake. And this is definitely a fun version of a sometimes stale experience playing in the more serious rooms in town.

Tonight was another great night. I believe the turnout was about 50% greater than the week before which itself was a big increase from previous weeks. This is definitely a great game and Hard Rock said they are going to put a big push behind it themselves. Good times!

Here's why it wouldn't work:

Working in the sportsbook one night, I was paired with a ticket writer who couldn't stop complaining. Every time he opened his mouth, it was to complain about something. Nonstop, constant.

Finally, I said to him one night, "Can you go one hour without complaining, for $5?"

Being a degenerate, his eyes lit up at the prospect of a wager. "You want to bet $5?"

"No, I'll give you $5 if you can go an hour without complaining about something."

He spent the next 45 minutes smiling, saying what a wonderful day it was, what a happy place the world was, etc. I told him it was so much more pleasant, that if he won, I might offer it again the next hour.

Then he hit some minor bump in the road, and forgot himself completely, complaining bitterly about some ******* customer.

My point, as pointed out in the introduction to Freakonomics: tiny incentives don't work.

Is the main game 2/5? or 5/10?

If they made this game a permanent fixture at one table every day, I would probably give Hard Rock 100% of my action and be the table captain for this game. (Sorry, current table captain, but you can't handle this.)
