Guy makes high hand, proceeds to distract multiple tables

This guy makes a high hand ($800) in a room of about 10 tables, he proceeds to go to every other table making a commotion, trying to talk to the players etc... and everyone just looks at him. He manages to distract a few tables for a minute or so before the floor comes up to him. He explains to the floor that distracting other tables to slow them down is part of his poker strategy on winning high hands. He gets told that what he's doing isn't "poker strategy" and to stop or he'll get kicked out, so he sits back down and doesn't cause anymore trouble. That was really something...

Did his high hand hold up?

Sometimes when I bluff and don't want a call, I take out a baseball bat and knock my opponent unconscious. I explained to the floor that eliminating opponents with pugilistic force is part of my poker strategy on bluffing hands.

If he was asked to leave or even 86'ed, and he maintained the high hand, would he still be allowed to collect it.

Turns out poker players are still, in fact, poker players.

Would depend on the location and exact promo rules, but almost certainly.

Never seen this one ... but IMO for most HH promos you must be present to win (10 min or so) or it will be lost or rolled. It's possible that if you made arrangements before you left that they might hold it for 24 hours.

Always stories, but a guy landed a Royal HH just into the 3 hour window ... $500 ... lost $1200 playing while waiting for the $500.

But yes, every location and promo can, and will, have it's own set of rules ... even changing from promo to promo at one location. I read the monthly promo flyers at the table each month and there's always some sort of tweak in the language depending on the promo ... even adding that it's the Player's responsibility to be able to make it to the promo stage in the allotted amount of time in order to claim a prize. Voiding a high hand because a player left involuntarily would probably cause more trouble than the card room is willing to deal with.

Don't forget to call clock on him while he's napping.

At least no one told him about pulling the fire alarm strategy

Over the years I've experienced the fire alarm going off maybe 20-30 times.

One time poker players flinched, when security actively came in the poker room and said "everybody out". Other than that, not a single care was given by any player.

I called the floor over once and asked them to turn the music down as I couldn't concentrate.

Floor said Sir that's the fire alarm you all need to vacate the building ; at which point we all picked up our chips and got in the long line at the cashiers cage to cash out

In all the fire alarms and bomb threats that required evacuation poker players were the worst. Trying to finish hands, trying to cash out their chips, telling dealers "the action was on him" when we get back and "save my seat".

When those alarms go off I'm going to beat you out the door (though I did usually throw the cover on the tray). I once made it to our designated evacuation spot with only my uniform on (it was freezing) and they wouldn't let us start our cars or use our phones because the bomb squad was afraid it would set a bomb off. They sent in a robot to detonate it (the explosion was pretty cool), and it turned out to be cartons of cigarettes.
