Small RV? You must be new to the lifestyle.
Welome. You will absolutely meet the nicest people.
What you're talking about is called "boondocking" and it's a frequent topic of discussion on RV related websites. Casinos and Walmart are the cornerstones of boondocking. Which, I guess, just goes to show how far out in the "boondocks" RVers generally go.
Boondocking etiquette requires:
1. Don't overstay your welcome
2. Don't put the "feet" down
3. Don't put your slides out. It should look like you're parking there.
4. Patronize the business. Pick up some supplies or play some games.
5. When in doubt, ask permission (they will usually grant permission, unless there's some ordinance against it)
Overnighting at rural casinos approaches 100% but check the internet. For example, the parking lot at Inn of the Mountain Gods is a cruel joke; you can get in but you can't get out. Your wife will never, ever let you forget that one.
Here's how to plan the ideal RV trip. Wake up in the morning. Step outside. Throw a pencil on the ground. Whichever way the pencil is pointing, go that way. You live in a vast country, full of people who are quietly going about the business of making America what it is; there are surprises and secrets and heartbreaking beauty around every bend. And casinos too. Now get out there.
