While it's not ideal IMO, if nothing better becomes obvious, we may just end up with a riff on that. Live Poker, Live Casino Poker, Live Poker Discussion...

Good question. Since I'm not involved with the day-to-day modding of this forum, I have no idea what is done with trip reports now, but I agree there should be a home for them.

Trip reports are encouraged in LCP and, in my opinion, they'd continue to be encouraged wherever the author chose to post them in the future.

But if the Forum is titled etiquette and rules they might think twice about posting which might end up being a good story to read

I agree completely. Consider though that the same goes for any forum name that's not "Live Casino Poker Trip Reports."

The problem with that is I don't think many people are going to go into a Rules and Etiquette forum just to look for questions to answer. They will get much more exposure and more input from people who are browsing through the main LCP forum who didn't necessarily go in looking to answer a rules question.

If the goal is to decrease the number of total forums, I don't believe further branching out LCP into more specific categories is the answer. My dad had a famous saying when I was growing up and it was "just leave well enough alone".

Is there any need for a "Live Casino Poker Trip Reports" forum? How many new threads per day would justify its existence?

I also wonder how easy it is to write an entertaining trip report without violating the LCP rule about physical descriptions of card room employees and other players.

That's not the stated goal in the OP.

It seems they want to organize things so it should be obvious to a user where to post something they want to post about. The threads that get moved from other forums to LCP tend to be about rules and etiquette, so maybe the name of the forum needs to make it clearer that such threads belong here.

why would you need to give a description of card room employees and players? Just say "The floor supervisor" or "The player on the button".

No. That's why we have mods. Keep the name general so it can include multiple topics about playing poker in a live card room.

You would probably need to give vivid descriptions of their appearance and personalities if you wanted to tell a good story in a way that allows the reader to picture being there.

Given how much mods are paid, maybe it would be nice to make the job a little bit easier on them.

If no better name comes up for this forum, this is how I'd be leaning now:

Live Poker

Live Casino Poker
Venues & Communities
Tournament Talk
Home Poker

With the possibility of tacking these two onto the end:

Cash Strategy
Tournament Strategy

While I'm not fond of the redundancy of the LCP name, if we get too narrow it's going to cause confusion. I like the R&E name if that's all the forum was about, but I think enough topics have been brought forward that wouldn't fit well under that name to show it would cause problems.

And TBH, I'm not sure why I'm so concerned about redundancy when the forum I spend the most time in is:

Internet Poker

Internet Poker

How about replacing "Live Casino Poker" with "Table Discussions, " "Events at the Table, " "Table Happenings" or some variation of it. That would create a clean line between universal discussions where everyone could be interested and casino specific discussions where only people who go to the venue or area would be interested.

How about simply "Casino & Cardroom Poker"? That way we're capturing all discussion of live, legal poker venues without repeating "Live."

I don't visit "cash" forums very often since I don't play a lot of cash poker, so I don't know what sort of interest/volume of discussion they generate. However, if you're going to have a "Live poker" main section, it might be a good idea to include a "Cash Games" forum there, rather than somewhere else.

As for the "Forum Formerly Known As MTTc -Live", I agree it doesn't need to have the word "Live" in it. And, if you have a separate "Cash Games" thread, you don't even need to include the word "Tournament", or any of its derivatives. Something like "Events and Venues" would probably work to indicate this is where people can discuss schedules, structures and logistics. A forum titled "Schedules, Structures and Logistics" wouldn't be too bad a name either (and certainly more descriptive), though it doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.

I think I prefer "Casino & Cardroom Poker" of the alternatives suggested so far for LCP.

For MTTc-L, I would prefer "Tournament Events" to both "Tournament Talk" and "Events and Venues". The former overlaps with general questions about tournament rules and procedures, which should be discussed here in Casino Poker. The latter overlaps with Venues & Communities.

Sigh.

Yes, I know.

Venues & Communities - These are two subforums of this one; Poker Venues, and Regional Communities. We're talking about merging these two forums, and "moving them up" one level, so they would no longer be a subforum of this one.
Tournament Talk - This is MTTc-Live, and it is currently in the Tournament category, slotted in among strategy forums. As a result, it gets a number of strategy posts even though it isn't a strat forum. And there is a lot of crossover with LCP and Poker Venues, as many of the same venues are being discussed in each.
Home Poker - Same name as it currently is.
Cash Strategy - This would be nothing more than a link to the existing live cash strat forum.
Tournament Strategy - This would be nothing more than a link to the existing tournament strat forums.

So, as some of you may have noticed, we went ahead with a number of changes throughout our forums, including some of the ones we've discussed in this thread.

We basically did this:

with a couple of name changes. This forum is now Casino & Cardroom Poker, and we settled on Tournament Events for what used to be MTTc-Live.

Poker Venues & Regional Communities have now been merged into one "Venues & Communities" forum.

There is a problem though now when you click casinos & cardrooms, instead of opening, it takes you to a browser and opens it there and I don't know why!

Anyone???

It's not just this subforum, its others as well. And this is happening from the old legacy app.

Can it be fixed???

You're not clicking on the forum. You're clicking on a link to the forum. In the legacy app links have always opened up a browser window. Don't use the popular forums link, go down to the Live Poker section and select the forum directly.

Nope. When i do go directly there (not under link to popular forums) it still does the same thing. I go down to live poker and that works fine but when i click up top to casinos and cardrooms the link opens instead of just filtering down to that subforum.

Can someone else with the Legacy app please try that so you can see I'm not crazy!

I'm using the old 2+2 app and everything works for me, I don't get the effect you're telling of.

I decline to speculate on whether or not you are crazy.

When they update the expand/collapse menu on the left side of most pages it should go back to normal for you. But, yes, anytime you click on a link 'in' a thread it will open a new browser page.

If you manipulate your way around using the 'subscribed threads' tab you should see things normally. GL

is there a link to the Legacy app?

I've also been using the old 2p2 app but have been moving it from phone to phone via hard wire, since there are no longer any updates or store availability.

I also decline to speculate whether you are crazy or not but chillrob and I are definitely not part of the CIA plot to get you, that's an entirely different group of people.
