You do the same thing as you do with any s*** tests, you guys should know this, women s*** test men all the time. You simply accept what they say and exaggerate it playfully, like saying "ok i'm gonna stop folding kings preflop"

It's in the 1st chapter, bud. lol jk.

Whenever I make a funky play and tell them that's what the book says to do, and they ask me which book, I reply, the Bible.

Strictly speaking, the fish influencing the action is not within the rules.

I meant, if it were during the hand, it's not within the rules. For example you say, "Uh oh, tighty raised, must be AA." That's not within the rules, though it's virtually always ignored.

I like saying something along the lines of, "damn right I'm a nit, better fold when I'm in the hand or I'll bust your ass" and then wink at him.

To be honest I've had players enter the pot with me stating they wanted to bust me just to teach me not to play tight. I specifically remember this one fat donkey literally saying "you need to learn how to play like a man" and then proudly show his bluff with 52o in a single raised pot I opened from UTG scooping a whole 5BB from me when I whiffed completely and checked it to the river.

So you really shouldnt worry too much about looking tight lol

if you're gonna play super nitty at least don't be a buzz kill at the table and attack the fish.

I've been the object of some fairly nasty remarks along these lines and, as friendly as I try to be, it's when I use my line #1 bec if you don't shut them down they're going to keep it up and then THEY become the buzz kill.

Justice version, I had a guy call like T5ss in a 3bet pot for the same reason and spike bottom two but I flopped top set.

he is probably tilted from losing. I would just shrug my shoulders and ignore him. If it's really bothering you then I guess the only thing you can do is table change or start raising more hands. I would personally just stay at the table and keep playing my game

A brand new game gets called at Talking Stick. We don't even have all of the players seated yet, some are getting their chips or moving from other games. Guy on my right says 'Oh, great, the guy that never plays a hand.' I say 'I play EVERY hand.' 'Haha, yeah, you fold most of them. You play too tight, you only play good cards.'

OK, this thread doesn't like my first line 'So what, you'll call my raises anyway' so I didn't use that one, was going to go w/ 'How would YOU know what good cards are?' but let the thing slide.

It was 8-16 0E. The reason the game is beatable is bec most of 'them' don't know how to play very well. No deviation from standard play is what gets the money and even minor deviation is a waste.

I don't joke around like this unless I know how I'm going to respond to a follow up comment. All you're doing is reinforcing his (correct) opinion that you play tighter than him. That's not super useful on a metagame level.

With the caveat that very few people think of me as a nit, I usually go one of two routes:

1. "Us vs them", e.g. "That ****er, let's raise his big blind every orbit!"

2. Disinterested, e.g. "If he wants to pay $10/hr [note I always intentionally lowball rake to avoid attracting attention to it] to fold and drink free coffee, that's cool."

This player is the classic example of the type I'm addressing: He doesn't care if I'm in a pot w/ him bec he can't help himself. And I didn't like his tone.

I would have followed up the bolded above with, I USUALLY play good cards, that's why I don't get called down the few times I bet out my junk (followed with a wink to him).

I'm going to relate a phenomenon that happens to me at the table ALL of the time: I get a haircut, someone says 'nice haircut', it's a guy. I put on a good shirt, someone says 'nice shirt', it's a guy. I've lost 53 lbs in the last year, someone says 'you look great!', it's a guy.

I'm NOT winking at any guys.

Stop asking solely men how your haircut, shirt and body looks.
