On the flop, checks to me on the button. Dealer burns and starts to put out turn. I stop the dealer, I bet and get called in 2 spots.

On the turn, checks to me. I start to check (don't actually hit table) and then point out there 3 burn cards. Dealer prematurely burned and burned on again before turn.

What's the correct ruling?

There is no specific rule or procedure for this in most rooms I would guess. I would probably just instruct the dealer to burn a fourth cards then the river, since I care more about protecting against marked cards than the sacred order of the cards, but either is fine really

If it matters I had not completed turn action before alerting the dealer.

Floor was called

Interesting spot and one where you might get a few different opinions.

In this case I would consider the two checks as 'significant action' and allow you to complete the Turn action with no change to the Board. Although the door is open, I don't think I have a different opinion of this in a HU spot either if the first Player has already checked.

Even if it's caught before any action you may still have the issue of knowing for sure which 'burn' card was supposed to be on the Board. With 'good' Dealers this may not be the case but now that door is open as well. If we are 'really' comfortable with identifying the correct Board card BEFORE any action, then I can see putting that card up on the Board and treating the other card as an exposed burn card .. thus taking the now top 'correct' card in the stub as the River.

But in the interest of keeping the game going I would probably lean towards a fourth burn and 'new' River as indicated above. GL

Turn card stays because there's action. Finish action on the turn, then burn a 4th card and put out the river

Had a grumpy/crappy floor. I think he heard dealer say he burned twice and stopped listening. Told dealer to put "correct" turn out, flip over "incorrect" turn, and burn again when action completed.

He pointed at guy in the first spot, said "action on you" and walked away

Here's what RROP says about it. Interesting that it states that if there is any action on the betting round, rather than substantial action, then the action stands. Also, it recommends putting one of the burn cards back on the deck and using it as the next burn card in order to stay with the original river card.
Quote:
16.If the dealer fails to burn a card or burns more than one card, the error should be corrected if discovered before betting action has started for that round. Once action has been taken on a boardcard, the card must stand. Whether the error is able to be corrected or not, subsequent cards dealt should be those that would have come if no error had occurred. For example, if two cards were burned, one of the cards should be put back on the deck and used for the burncard on the next round. On the last round, if there was no betting because a player was all-in, the error should be corrected if discovered before the pot has been awarded, provided the deck stub, boardcards, and burncards are all sufficiently intact to determine the proper replacement card.

I don’t know why the “substantial” qualifier would matter here. As for the ruling, I would call the floor back and make sure he understood all the details.

1. I wasn't 100% the floor missed information but I was assuming he did
2. I wasn't 100% of the correct ruling at the time
3. The pot wasn't that big and the other 2 players in the hand didn't seem to care. I felt like it would have been very -ev to anger the table and call the floor back and say come rule on this again
