hey, my first post so be gentle lol

i was just wondering if anyone has played any of the cash games here? after building my roll online playing 0.5/10 and 0.10/0.25 i was considering going down for a night or 2.

I was just wondering what the standard/type of play was like in the 50p/£1 cash game there. also how busy it gets how many fish, how many regs, how soft the games are compared to online ect ect ect.....

thanks for you help

BTW i ask because i have never played a live cash game before so it would be nice to no what to expect when i get there and to no what im throwing myself into lol

Depending on the night you go down on will depend on the number of players for the cash game.

Theres always a .05/1 game running, and always about 8 players to every flop. Most 05/1 players are weak tight. 1/2 games can be a bit mental with some loose fish.

DTD run some amazing regular weekend festivals with a range of buy ins depending on the weekend festival.

If you want more infomation, detials etc theres the dtd website, and a running thread on blonde poker. A british poker forum that is partners with DTD card room. GLGL

I have played 50p/£1 at Dusk til Dawn and the games are much softer than 5c/10c online. Making the transition to live play, you will notice game is much slower, especially if you multitable. You can literally go hours without a playable hand or situation, so make sure you have all night. You will find the games have plenty of fish. The fish at 50/1 generally identify themselves straight away by buying in for somewhere between £40 -60, and then playing most hands often in raised pots, often out of position. Overall I do find it more enjoyable than online, so get involved and GL

IIRC i think the rake was quite high? So would reconment a tag style, not much value in 3betting light

cheers for that youcheckraise, should be down there next weekend with some luck so ill be sure to post how things went and what the place is like.

i no the rake is 10% up to a max of £6, i didnt think that was too bad, or is that higher than normal?

Standard in the uk is 5% £10 cap, the cap when i was there was £7 with 10%, that means that in a lot of the pots less than £60 you are being raked twice more than is the norm.

10% rake capped at £7.

I've only been there once but it was pretty much just 1-2 running. You have to choose your tables carefully to fit your style of play. As the buyin on 1-2 is uncapped, there will be some tables where people are sitting with 1-2K and the std open raise will be £15. Some tables will be full of weak players/nits sitting with £80.

Oh and unlimited live straddles can be abit mad, 1/2-4-8-16 and so on lol. Great value tournies though. As far as I know there's a £100 freezeout this weekend with a £30K garuntee which will be roughly £10k for the winner.

Trip Report

DTD = WOW i was so impressed with the place!

Since it was my first time playing live and i wanted to see how the standerd of play was and how i would adjust to it i just brought in to the .50/1 game for £60.

it was super super soft, (like nutcracker said 75% fish) lots of limping, and lots of calling raises of 4xbb, (this was sorted out with a 10xbb raise which got me heads up or against 2 players) i only had 1 competant player at the table and his post flop play was pretty weak. its only took me a couple of hours to build my stack above £200.

although saying this they were quite observant of my nitty play and after the first hour my raises started to get ALOT of respect from the whole table which made it even easier to run over. (i only showed down 1 hand after the river the whole night)

all in all i had a great night down there and will definatly be going back (possibly tonight since they have a £15 tournament scheduled so im hoping that will attract alot of fish to the cash tables after they bust out)

thanks alot for all your advice, really helped me out!

Hi guys,

I'm in Nottingham visiting a friend at the minute. I may head over to dusk till dawn to play some cash games. Can anyone tell me how bad or good the £.50/£1 games are?

I did a search and couldn't really find any recent info.

Also, I went last night to check out where it was etc and there was an Aston Martin DBS at the front door. Anyone have any ideas who it belongs to?

I only just found out recently there was a DTD in Nottingham. I'd love to go down but no way I have the roll for it as I'm a recreational fish.

Really miss playing live poker, the local pub game I routinely beat has stopped now and I've only got online. I enjoy it but it's not the same as having cards and chips etc.

I have only recently started playing poker again and went down DTD to feel my way back into the game again. The last time I played live poker was about 4 years ago.Anyhow i played the £50 buy in torny and busted just short of the money. The thing i noticed most was the amount of bull5hit that was talked at the table - usually by two guys who considered themselves as the resident 'expert'.Both of them competing to display their superior knowledge of poker.Funnily enough they were both knocked out early.

I have caught the poker bug again.Enjoyed the night and all things that come with poker:-
- the obligatory moans about not having any hands.
-the earphones;the comical staredowns;caps;sunglasses
-the adrenaline rush;thumping heart;
-the fat guy not wanting his bluff called

defo going more regular now

There is only one 'DTD' and it is, in fact, the aforementioned one in nottingham.

I cannot speak more highly of any cardroom. Its professionally run and run very very well.

At festival time there is often 3 or 4 tournaments running at the same time; and they are all run like clockwork. With a seperately run full roster of cash games too.

The games outside of festival times i have no idea about. During festival times they are excellent, including PLO and DC too (DC probably not as good as plo but ive not played it much there)

My one and only issue is the food. Its pretty terrible and expensive for what it is. I only play 2/2 PLO and higher so the rake thing doesnt affect me so much. I've yet to play on a table that doesnt have any value.

Enjoy

At first sorry for digging up a 3 year old thread but i figured there is no point in starting a new one.

I am planning to make my 1st trip to Nottingham this weekend and I was wondering if games are still that soft. Going there would also require me to take a big part of my NL50 roll so just trying to work out if there is enough value in passing on softer online field on weekends.

Did you go? How was it?

I'm thinking of going for the first time and plan on going every day for a week.

Also looking for somewhere to stay nearby and cheap lol.

Whilst there I hope to play the nightly tournament and/or maybe one or two 'proper' tournaments or satellites.

Oh, and cash too, either 1/1 or 1/2 so any help/advice/tips etc would very much be appreciated

Does anyone have any info on what it's like playing in the Sam Trickett high limit room? Typical players? Standard of play etc... ?

what do you buy in for?

the rake on the cash games is now on .5/1 and 1/1 5% capped at £5 with £1 additional taken on all pots over £20 for the badbeat jackpot, so a max of £6 taken each hand

they also have a wheel-of-fortune style feature in their cash games now when you make quads or better, and the BBJ unlocks when a player gets quads over quads or better i think.

you can win as little as a bag of nuts on the wheel, all the way up to £500.

each notch on the wheel also represents a poker card so each time you spin you build poker hands and i think there are prizes for making certain hands.

there is also quite a regular PLO game now and DTD is now officially affiliated with PartyPoker.
