Dumbest thing you've ever done at the poker table? Dumbest thing you've ever done at the poker table?

Dumbest thing I ever did was moving from the 4/8 LHE table at the Venetian (after it closed down for the night) over to the 1/2 NL table.

Did I mention that I'd been getting double jack and cokes for the last 4 hours at the 4/8 table every time the cocktail waitress came by?

First time ever at a casino, trying really hard to not look like a noob. Had probably been there for about 30 mins to an hour, did a lot of watching and a lot of folding. i had 9d9c. I raised, one guy called, so I was heads up against this asian guy about 24 who played about 35-40% of his hands and would intensely bet and then stare at people, and try to intimidate them to fold, not something I had any experience with obviously... I was trying overly hard to not give any tells, and to basically completely ignore the way he was acting.

flop was an A and two low cards, all diamonds. He donks the flop, of course, and I call. random turn card comes (dont remember if it was a blank or an over card or what) and he checks. I check behind, basically instantly. River comes with a 4th diamond, so I figure im calling no matter what because I knew this guy was betting with ATC. So he bets, potsized bet. I insta call, and flip over my 9c...9....h... and I look down and think "oh crap, im a freaking moron". He looks at my cards for like 20 seconds...and then mucks. I think this is either the first or second pot I ever won at live poker. And it basically shattered any attempt at not looking like a fish.

Right as this tidal wave of embarrassment is about to engulf me, the villian mucked his hand. So instead of being embarrassed, I played it off, like I knew that one pair was good the whole way.
LOL. You need to quit taking poker lessons from me.

My 8s were SOOTED, though, were yours?

Pretty standard, but when mega tilting you still end up trying to bluff the biggest station ever.

1/2 at Foxwoods

Attempted triple barrel bluff with like K3 offsuit

Raised PF on the button with 1 caller.

Flop: Qc9c2s

Villain check calls.

Turn: blank, don't even remember what it was.

Villain leads, I raise, he calls.

River: 5c.

Villain checks. I check.

I wimped out on the river, and insta-mucked without showing telling him "you got it". He shows J10 high and takes it down. To make it worse, I mucked mainly cause I didn't want to show the bluff, then I told the guy what I had anyway.

That was a rough day.

One time I was drunk as crap at a table and was just having fun - not even worried about playing really. This old guy started to bug me so I got into a pot with him with the plan to suckout on him with 72o. It really was not a good plan, which I should have realized after he 3bet shoved. I called just because I thought it would be funny if I caught a hand - I didn't, he flipped Aces, he won, I didn't. Then he told me to go drink another one, and it didn't seem funny anymore - I just felt like a drunk *******.

But that is my story.

Ouch. I'm pretty sure I was the recipient/thought you were fos when you said you folded AA. I hope the pot wasn't too big...

I called 2k once with 72 on K439Q thinking 52 and 65 were a big part of villain's range. He had K9. Even dumber, I posted the hand in hsnl .

Hope that makes you feel better...

I've been playing long enough to have done a lot of dumb things at the table. One I can recall was at WSOP a few years ago - playing a one table $5000 satellite, and got down to two handed holding about 3/4 of the chips. Had my best intimidation mode going, complete with baseball cap pulled low combined with dark sunglasses. Opponent basically begged for a chop but I was sure I had her on the run and said no way. Then I picked up k-7c raised pf, flopped two clubs. Flush card came on the turn and we got all the money in. River came a blank, and I proudly flipped over my flush only to see one club and one spade in my hand and her one pair hand was good. I don't even remember the last couple of hands but I quickly lost the rest of my chips. That was the last time I wore dark sunglasses at the table.

Small buy-in tourney. Went to wrong table and wrong seat. Played 30 minutes before the "right" player came to table. Everyone was cool about it. Just went to my table and seat.

Yikes. This is the exact reason I have never worn sunglasses at the table. My vision is ****** enough to begin with.

1/2 game, I was like 3 seat, one of the furthest seats from the board. I got it in on the turn set vs. FD (spades). River came a club and I kind of clapped because it was a pretty decent pot. Then the dealer shipped villain the chips and I was like "he missed his flush, I won, I won". Villain said "river made my flush". I said "It's a ****ing club and you have..." I squinted and looked a little closer. The river was a spade.

Felt like a complete ******.

I did that once, except I mucked the second nut low. There was only one hand I could beat (I was chasing a SF draw). My opponent got a huge grin after I mucked and proudly turned over the nut low. He raised preflop and bet the flop and turn holding an inside str8 draw.

We learn from these events. Just Show Your Cards.

This is interesting... My first time on real poker table (Prior to this i played a little only with play money chips). This was in Macau, Grand Lisboa Casino $10/$20 game.

I flopped the flush and obviously, i think i won the whole world. I was too excited and didn't know what slow play was so bet on flop to get called. Bet on turn to get called... By now, i am sick and tired of getting called... The dealers asks me to act after river and i didn't know there was another round of betting so i decided to show down..... LMAO

Now the other guy bets, lol... why? He had the better flush, now i ask the dealer what do i do? Other players are telling me i can call or fold but now that the guy knew my cards i thought he is betting to just scare me away.... i called to see his A high flush against my k high...

Now that i am playing for a year and learning the game pretty well, i laugh at that pretty often

I am flying to macau again in a month and would love to sit down on same table where i sat for the first time in my life.

About 10 years ago I was playing 3-6 at the Mirage. Probably my second or third trip to play live in Vegas. Thought I was decent, learned how to raise nut draws multiway..., you know the type!

So I get 46s in the blind and the flop comes 35x and we get 3 bets or so in on the flop with a bunch of customers. Turn brings me a flush draw as well and it gets capped 3 ways. The river is the 7 (gin!). I lead, tight, but slightly aggro older Asian guy raises, third guy folds, I 3-bet, and the raiser tanks a little. Now all throughout the hand I just knew that this particular villian was way better than me, and if I ever looked at my hand, he would just soulread me and know exactly what I had. But now I'm sure he's folding, so I throw all caution to the wind, and since it was a friendly table, I start trying to egg him on to call, saying I'm stuck and stuff like that. He's good natured, smiles and throws out 6 chips. I proudly roll over 4-5!. Of course his AQ or whatever is good.

Stupid donks don't know when to fold! ;-) I later tried to convince a friend I was just trying to barrel the guy in a big pot..., eh whatever!

In June I was playing $1/$3 at Treasure Island and had 77, raised got a caller and I cbet and turned a set and bet again..I'm not sure what the board was but it was very drawy...the river paired so I had a boat but it also brought a card that would give straight and a flush..he checked again and i checked behind because I was afraid he hit his draw..I flipped up my cards and realized what I done and he looked at me with a WTF look on his face..then I was tilted

At a 1/2 cash table I knocked this wicked hot girl out in a $250 pot and she didn't buy back in, much to the displeasure of the rest of the table. Someone said to me "What the hell is wrong with you?" and the rest of the table pretty much echoed it so I picked up a handful of $5 chips and started to follow her across the poker room to choirs of "Run!" from everyone at the table.

When I finally caught up to her she had just tapped her jacked boyfriend on the shoulder as i was saying "hey..." and the first thing he looked at was me standing there with a pile of chips in my hand like an idiot. I told her that she had me covered (which was clearly a lie as I was sitting on like 300 to start the hand) and she said she didnt believe me so i had her walk back over to the table with me telling her that the dealer told me to get her because of the oversight.

i tried just giving her the money after the ploy was discovered but she wouldn't take it- and some idiot at the table even had the dealer reprimand me for taking chips off of the table. just another example of why idiots and alcohol don't mix...
