You meet one asshat in a day, you met an asshat. You meet ten asshats in a day, maybe you're the asshat.

OP, out of curiosity, is having a true jerk at the table a common thing that happens when you play? The reason I ask is I've been playing for 13 years and I can only remember 3 times there was a true jerk at the table who was genuinely impacting other peoples' ability to enjoy the game.

Certainly I run into players who are occasionally rude and/or act like babies when they start losing (slamming cards, slamming chips, cussing etc.) I certainly run into the people who stupidly announce how much they know about the game, spouting off odds and terminology and whatnot. I certainly run into the people who get really arrogant once they've won a couple big hands. But those are just minor annoyances that don't really affect other people at the table significantly.

I seriously only remember 3 times where the game simply wasn't fun because of one person at the table going out of his way to make it as unpleasant as possible for the other people at the table. Just wondering if I've been luckier than you.

OP should take some of this advice to heart and look in the mirror to find solutions.

Think about this, the entirety of the information given about this situation comes directly from OP. The story is very likely to be slanted in OP's favor, and possibly even leaving out parts of the story that don't paint him in a good light. I actually don't think that's a big deal, as all people are going to have some bias towards their viewpoint in a given situation. It's just human nature.

What I believe is most telling about this thread is that despite getting only OP's version of the events, which will be the most favorable to OP, he still ended up with pages of replies letting him know that his actions played a large role in creating the situation that he believes he's a victim of.

TBH, between OPs admitted behavior and the way he described his physical appearance and personality, even the thought of sitting at a poker table with him for long periods of time puts me on life tilt.

See Disruptive’s post above. If you are a generally pleasant person (or at least a non-jerk), the likelihood of others acting like jerks to you goes way down. Not to say there aren’t jerks out there, but most people will treat you respectfully if you do the same. I suspect those who say that they see lots of jerks at the table are people who are themselves jerks, and the perceived jerkiness of others is a response to that.

Bro you're literally there to parasite off a GAME by exploiting people's bad decisions and personality traits, and you're upset when those things manifest in a way that upsets your delicate sensibilities?

as my time on earth is growing short I do not wish to spend my time or energy in toxic situations. Three strike rule is usually in place and then it's time to rack up and leave.
