Yes, yes it does.

I like Winstar, but it's too long of a drive to play as much as I'd like.

It's ironic you can't legally play Texas hold'em in Texas.

Serous question though, why are the gambling laws so antiquated in Texas?

Its b/c of all of the bible beating baptist holy rollers that still have their hand in the politicians pockets who think gambling is the work of the devil

There are "underground" card rooms around Dallas, but not nearly as many as there used to be. There have been a lot of SWAT raids, and a group of guys breaking in and robbing games, so it is very dangerous to play nowadays. Oklahoma is your best option I'm afraid.

Winstar vs Choctaw
*Choctaw's rake is $1 cheaper.
*Choctaw serves free food to players on Sat/Sun. If you don't like what they are serving ask for a food comp.
*Shorter waiting lines for games.
*Winstar has lots of players and more game slection.

I play 2/5 NLHE so I play Fri/Sat at Choctaw and Play Sun at Winstar since the Choctaw does not often have a 2/5 game on Sundays...

Actually there is one Indian casino that the state of Texas hasn't been able to close yet. It has a decent poker room for a podunk little place. It's in Eagle Pass, Texas, which is on the Mexican border.

Several organizations are aligned with each other to stop poker/casinos in Texas.

Horse Racing (totally dying in Texas).
Baptists ("Charitable" Bingo).
The State of Texas (lottery).

They feel that any dime that goes to poker/casinos is a dime that doesn't go into their pockets.

Oklahoma is the perfect distance....close enough to play, but far enough to avoid being a degenerate regular.

Too bad about the poker but at least there are plenty of baptist churches to frequent in Dallas.

It's ironic that the most famous poker game is called Texas hold'em.
