Uhhhh you should learn to count.

7 stacks of green = $3500
4 stacks of red = $400
5 black chips = $500
random chips on side = $50 ?

Total is = $4450 or about $4500 like he said.

MGM Grand at Foxwoods? Do you not see the Foxwoods chips?

The 25's all say Foxwoods, but the $5 chips clearly say "MGM Grand" with a black outline of a lion. I'm curious about that as well.

It's the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. MGM logo on one side, Foxwoods on the other.

MGM dropped out of their deal with Foxwoods. It is now just Foxwoods Resort/Casino...This means they should be replacing all those chips for new ones soon

There is still a casino at MGM Grand which is attached to Foxwoods. Those chips make there way to the poker room often. Sorry to have created such commotion haha...

It's no longer MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Their deal is done it is now called The Fox Tower, soon enough all those chips with MGM logos will be gone, just a matter of time.

I'm a limit player that has the same question every time I see a huge NL win so I want to ask you: Do you make money like that by having a few players willing to call big bets w/ second best hands or are you soul reading and making hero calls? Combination of the two?

I can't speak for him obviously.

But 9/10 times I book a huge win or anyone else books huge wins it came from value betting fish in hands where we had the nuts.

Soul reading/hero calling should be a tiny sliver of your win rate pie chart in poker and especially in live poker.

Thanks for the input. I thought that hero calling might have been a bit larger but I'm not shocked that it isn't. I also notice that you don't mention running successful bluffs. The part that I can't wrap my head around is that there are enough ppl willing to call big bets w/ weakish hands in a big game like that to make such a huge win possible.

In regards to this I think image plays a huge role. If you manage to get a tight table and it's best to play laggro than you get to really capitalize with all of your nut/near nut hands because nobody ever believes you have a hand after a certain point. That combined with taking down most of your medium sized pots in position will lead to a monstrous win. Sunrunning never hurts either

IMO, i definitely believe its the lack of understanding board texture for live players. For example, if i'm playing 1knl online, almost every single decent reg will understand what are good cards for me to 2 and 3 barrel, whereas live, it seems like the vast majority of players are really underdeveloped to this. So you can really exploit this and increase your barreling frequency IP.

In addition to that, its A LOT and i mean a lot of thin value betting live. There are tons of spots where you can get value from worst where you couldn't really online (or at least at a much smaller %)

Well, NL players can't wrap their heads around people successfully bluffing in LHE either, so it works both ways.

Obviously, you rarely get called by pushing $3,000 into a $50 pot. It's like that story about how frogs will jump out if you drop them into boiling water but they'll allow themselves to get cooked if you put them in cold water and slowly boil it.

In LHE, you're generally adjusting your range so that people will get strung along for a fixed bet size. In NL, you're generally adjusting your bet sizes so that people get strung along with their fixed ranges.

From 2/5 home game a week ago today. in for 1k out for 2.8kish, the big pot that I won was when I got it all in 4 way (all other stacks were short $300-$500) with Q10 on Q7210 against J9 J9 and Q5 and somehow managed to hold when A fell on river.
