I've heard they spread O8 but the room is a little too far away to get there. I hear you better be there early or forget about it.

So true. Easily can wait 3-4 hours to play. So what I'm hearing is next weeks game should be 10-20

Played the $65 (3 table) tourney at Best Western yesterday and made a big mistake. Background: Tourney had just started with blinds at 25-50. Only 6 players at our table. All six players limp in. I'm in the SB with the 6-8h and toss in the extra 25. Flop 10s 8c 8h. It gets checked all around. Turn is 5d. I bet 175, everyone folds except seat 7 who raises to 350. I call. River a beautiful 8s. Here's where I really blow it. Didn't take my time, but knew the villain was very strong. Quickly checked as did villain who had pocket fives for a full house. A poor attempt at a live hand conversion is posted below (only showing heads-up). Made final table, but short stacked. All-in with Jacks vs 10s. Villain spiked a set.

Seat 1: Hero ($20000)
Seat 2: Seat 2 ($2000)
Seat 3: ($2000)
posts the small blind of $25
Hero posts the big blind of $50
The button is in seat #2
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Hero [8h 6h]
Seat 2 calls $50
folds
Hero checks
*** FLOP *** [ERROR INVALID STRING: 10d 8s 8c]
Hero checks
Seat 2 checks
*** TURN *** [ERROR INVALID STRING: 10d 8s 8c] [5h]
Hero bets $75
Seat 2 raises to $125
Hero calls $50
*** RIVER *** [ERROR INVALID STRING: 10d 8s 8c 5h] [8d]
Hero checks
Seat 2 checks
Hero shows [8h 6h]
Seat 2 shows [5d 5s]
Hero wins the pot ($375)

Im confused but it looks like you were checking monsters??? These tables arent good for slowplaying, when you get it bet it. The tourney playeers are especially bad with their versions of being "priced in"

giving this a bump, as RCG Poker runs almost daily around here, and I'd love to hear from players about their cash games. I've only played their tourney, and if you don't get unlucky, you will final table most MTTs. Player are 80% awful. A lot of old folks who don't know squat about SPR, M value, and stuff like that...

Cash table experiences please...

I played 20 hours this week and made over 2400 at the 1/2. I like rcg

In case people dont know, at rcg the 1/2 is a 50 min 400 max now. And the 2/5 plays like a 5/10 because you can buy in up to the table max and lots of people do that every night.

i played recently, and got berated by a player, saying I made a horrible bet after raising pre from the BB, and cbetting $20 into a $35ish pot on an AK9x board. Vil said something about "if I was that strong, I should have let him peal one off.." or some other bs...

He was basically salty that I didn't give him a free card to draw to his flush, and told me I made a huge mistake by betting him off his hand. Never mind that he only had like, $80, and who gives free cards into a raised flop OOP?

Anyway, another player lost 3 separate pots when he held a set, shoved (for like $80ish each time), got called, and got chased down by the same player drawing to a gutshot. 3 TIMES!!! ugh...poor kid.

finished the night up $150 after 3hr of play.

Theres only a few sour players and they dont win, just do your best to ignore them. If they get on your nerves table change. Like I said 2 years ago- when you get it bet it, youll get paid well.

I play 1/2 there frequently. There is a lot of loose aggressive players so if you play tight its easy money. Some players are good but the majority aren't but the games are usually pretty fun.

How is this game dealt? I assume it's not a self-dealt game, but they also don't have shuffle machines. Is the pace really slow?

Theres 2 decks, the button shuffles one during the hand and then the dealer quickly shuffles and splits it after the hand is over. So its pretty quick

I've enjoyed doing RCG but haven't been to CCG and have only been to the Horshoe a couple of times. How do people think the three compare in terms of amount of action and quality of play? I don't think the player pool at RCG is super strong for what it's worth, but I've also run really well so it's hard to tell.

I'm flying in to O'Hare tomorrow around 6 PM. Working all day Wednesday so my only chance to play poker is Tuesday night. Looks like Rockford Charitable game in Mt. Prospect is my closets option before heading into the city. A few questions:

1. Would 2/5 generally run on a Tuesday? What's the max buy in and does it play deep?
2. If I arrive around 7 on a Tuesday, would I have trouble getting a seat at 2/5? How about 1/2? Can you call ahead for wait list?
3. Can I order food here or should I eat beforehand? Are drinks served, and are they comped or do I need to pay?
4. Think I'd have trouble getting an Uber into Chicago around midnight? Recognize it may be a little expensive which I'm OK with as the price for not needing to rent a car.

Thanks!

1) 2/5 runs most weekdays here. Most likely there will be a game.
2) It can vary a lot from day to day, but it's unlikely you'll get a seat right away. Sometimes there is a 2/5 feeder table you can sit at until a seat at the main table opens. 1/2 you'll almost surely get a seat right away. You can buy in up to $400 at 1/2 and table max at 2/5.
3) There will be food. Standard banquet hall style fare. Drinks are available and not free.
4) Not much trouble. If you want to save $$$, you can take uber to blue line station not too far away and take the train in. Blue line runs 24 hours.

Enjoy! RCG has good action, but at 1/2 you have to sit at the right table.

I can report back that I really enjoy RCG. 2/5 game played a lot like 5/10. Rake was reasonable and most of the dealers were good. A bit strange to have to shuffle on the button but I got used to it. Ended up killing the 2/5 game do which I'm sure made me like it more too, but compares well to Hammond for me.
