Charlotte NC - Two Kings Casino Hype Thread - Poker Card Room

Catawba's have been talking about a casino for years. Seminole's putting their name on it is pretty significant, and changes my view on a casino near Charlotte from " never gonna happen" to, "holy jeez, we have a shot"

Seminole's are a wicked smart tribe and casino operator.

Doubtful this is going to happen but it would be amazing for the area. I like Cherokee but 3 hours is a long drive.

This Catawba casino has been kicked around for what, 5 years now?

Georgia is going to beat NC to the punch. There's a committee vote next week on a bill that would allow two casinos in Georgia.

commercial (non-tribal) casino in NC will happen right after commercial casino in GA.

Commercial casino(s) in GA will never happen.

havent seen any news from Catawba's lately. anyone know what is going on?

Savannah is the most likely winner of the 2nd casino. You're looking at 4 hr drive. Augusta has an outside chance as well. Unfortunately, it's still a 4 hr drive. The casino primus will be in Atlanta, which is 6 hrs away.

I google the Catawba's NC venture every month or so. Absolutely nothing has happened since Q1 2016. They did end their aspirations of making a film studio though. That seemed like a fairly transparent PR blitz the whole time.

wonder what sort of decrease cherokee would see in overall casino revenue if Atlanta opened. they recently announced another major expansion.

This casino is actually going to happen. years ago I would have said never gonna happen in NC. BIA approval of agreed upon compact with the state is I think the last step in process.

Things are moving quickly. After getting BIA approval a few days ago, Catawba's announced today they will fast track a 500 slot temporary facility to open this summer.

Also no management contract/brand witingh Seminole / Hard Rock. (if mod cares to , maybe change thread name to Charlotte NC - Two Kings Casino Hype Thread). Delaware North will operate property for Catawba's.

Cherokee's just opened full service sports book, so I would assume Catawba's Two Kings will open with one as well. Sports book is a magnet for foot traffic.

No confirmation yet on Poker, but I'd be surprised if not part of opening early next year.

First state this summer looks like slots only.

I am sure the plans are still in flux and subject to change. Ben if live poker was announced it could still easily change more than once before the permanent facility is completed.

I live 30 minutes from the casino site and obviously excited. I drive by the casino daily on I85 and construction is progressing quickly.

Full opening isn’t until the end of 2022. Poker looks highly doubtful, especially if we go back to mandatory masking this winter.

Preface though mentioned this post is not really about masks. I am not saying they are good or bad. Not saying we should or should not wear them. Not saying or implying anything about masks and covid.

Why do you think required masks would make poker unlikely?
