Such a thread existed in the M&B forum and was moved here when it was shut down, but the thread was locked when moved. I don't recall why.

LCP is not a true reflection of the poker community around the world. You guys have tried to make this place all rainbows and sunshine when poker is anything but that. The opinions of happy go lucky players with nothing negative to ever say is just fake.

Censorship of any kind is never good. If problems or criticisms ever arise in a thread; that problem should really be addressed or even more productive should be voted on rather than deleted.

Wow. You're so edgy. Feel free to hang out in an unmoderated cesspool. Just because poker can be dark, doesn't mean everyone discussing it needs to be brought down to a lowest denominator. There are other forums and even areas of 2+2 that are less moderated. Enjoy them. Here, LCP caters to people who accept (and mostly appreciate) the parameters of a moderated forum.

Why is the permabanned thread still in this forum and unlocked? Despite the large number of posts WTF does it have to do with LCP? What 'substantive' posts are being made in it at this time and how are they relevant to LCP?

It has absolutely nothing to do with poker (live or otherwise) and has become a thread about views on race, specifically in America. That is my personal gripe with it.

This is over moderation IMO. I mean, if someone sees a pic of chips and bills and says "I didn't know cash played at Xyz Casino" you're going to move the discussion? Threads are conversations. And conversations are rarely completely linear. In the same thread, there are any number of comments or observations that are not directly related to the size of the chip stack. There was a comment about chip shuffling... OH NO,LOW CONTENT!!!

Perhaps. My thinking was:

* The CHIPSTACK thread is one of the few which are longstanding (in this case, 5 years) threads which serve a distinct, dedicated purpose. Other (newer) threads are given much more leeway to bend and find their course.
* The sidetrack was more than a post or two that had died on its own. It was already at 8 posts, the first of which was on topic to the extent that it was commenting on one of the pics, but the rest of which were off topic, and I was about to add another one.
* I was already doing some other moderation at the time, so it was convenient for me to do at the time.
* I was only moving them, not deleting them. I've mentioned before that I personally try not to overmoderate, but I have a lower bar for moving posts than for deleting them.

I appreciate the feedback, and agree that perhaps it's not a clearcut case, but I still believe I did the appropriate thing in this case. Open to other feedback still, of course.

It's a subject that has discussion value on its own, so he moved it to be discussed on its own. Not sure why you'd object to that.

Things that have nothing to do with poker let alone live casino poker. (Except that last bat**** crazy conspiracy post?) Out of the 20 pages of posts what is your rough estimate that had anything whatsoever to do with poker?

It's not a forum for discussion regarding home games or illegal/underground games.

I don't know what the parameters are for new users but they should really limit a new user to like 3 new threads started for the first 2 hours, or until a moderator approves it. This thread has been bombarded for the past few days with tons of spam and they keep changing their user name after getting banned.

We're actively discussing this in the mod forum. This discussion has come up before, but the spam has never been this bad before.

I hope you come up with something quick. Forum is being carpet bombed again. Making it very difficult to find what I'm interested in reading.

There have been posts deleted in the MDL poker thread which deserve an explanation.

First, a question was raised about who the bounties were in the upcoming tournament at MDL. A poster (who happens to be a bounty) posted a screenshot of the bounties in the thread. That post was deleted as "spam" and the "moderator" posted a message indicating spamming was not allowed by those affiliated with the tournament.

I posted a question to the "moderator" asking why someone providing information requested about an MDL tournament in the MDL thread was deleted. My post was then deleted and the "moderator"in question went back and edited his post directing all questions here.

I believed an explanation is warranted, as what has been posted by the "moderator" does not make any sense.

Since he is affiliated with the tournament, it is self-promotion and he can't do that. That is a site rule that trumps all. Bobo can come in and confirm this, since he is the actual 2+2 employee in charge of overseeing this, if you prefer to hear it from someone you won't just blow off. We have to be strict about that, it's not our choice.

Questioning moderation action in those threads has never been allowed. It belongs here. That's always been the case.

We've always welcomed an open exchange of ideas ITT. You've never liked the way we compartmentalize the forum. You made that clear a long time ago.

If it helps, I will make it all three mods in this forum who will confirm that the site rules prohibit room employees from making promotional posts in LCP and its Venues sub forums, even in direct response to a question. We'll see if we can get Bobo in here to satisfy you, though.

We're completely open to having a discussion about moderation. It should happen in this thread.
