A guy who posts almost exclusively in the Beginner's forum and who just got done shaming people for bringing a granola bar to the casino to eat more frequently than every 10 hours should not be advising a 19-year-old to turn poker pro over pursuing a career. That crosses from annoying and offensive to mildly dangerous.
You've taken a number of things out of context, but I do apologize you took such offense to that post.
I post mostly in the Beginner forum not because I am a beginner, but I have some self perspective that I'm not very good at the game and there isn't a "playing for a while but not very good at the game forum".
This isn't the place to rehash the discussion about backpacks in the poker room, but your recap is not close to what I said.
Understand my post you quoted comes from the perspective of a guy who has given his entire working life to corporate america. I'm close(ish) to retirement and CERTAINLY understand that that job has given me the security it has, but I also know I can look back and wish I did something else for all those years. I know I didn't enjoy them.
You are correct, it is not advisable to tell a 19 year old to chuck everything and play poker for a living. I'm pretty sure I said "if you are able" and I know not many are.
Would I take half my earnings, half my 401K and half my pension to instead have done something I enjoyed? Yes, AINEC.
Again, I apologize my post offended you, it was not meant to.
