It's probably not a trust issue (you have to handle cash after all) but to avoid appearance of impropriety to customers. Kinda like how a company employees and family members are not eligible for sweepstake drawings.

If this is happening in the same casino you should notify management/gaming. Should probably 'out' the casino to warn others.

Small rooms let their floors/dealers prop game when it's short to keep them going (and keep the rake from being short-handed possibly).

I travel and deal on the circuit. Some places allow you to play poker/gamble on property while you aren't working, others don't. Since I'm only there for a few weeks, I don't consider it a big deal since I'm pretty much just a temporary worker and not really upsetting the players I would be seeing year round at the same location.

If I lived in Vegas and had an in-house job at a casino, I would probably not play where I work. It makes less sense since there are tons of other options to go to and you won't have to worry about pissing off customers that you may deal to the next day. I think it's more understandable if your casino is in the middle of nowhere and you have few other options in order to play poker [Outside of underground games that some people may not want to get involved with].

Most dealers love dealing to other dealers though since they typically tip well [And are at least expected to, otherwise they can burn bridges with their co-workers]. And most dealers are horrendous players so customers should love the action too.

It’s also kind of a running joke that dealers that play are always broke. So players should really love them lol

When I was new to live poker, I made the assumption that most dealers have gotta be good based on how many hands they've witnessed... Yeah, I was way off on that one.
