Yes, exactly. That is the ONE room I know doing so and was what prompted my question. Why the heck are they doing it?!?!?!

Not only offering but it has been going at least "most" nights (though with a week of history "most" is an odd term). As the Isle, was always mostly a 4/8 room. Now seems more a 1/3 room (which I like as GN has gotten quite bad IMO) but still with small stakes limit game going (which I also like for those who want to play limit). Coushata is still 4/8, with the "player friendly $1 and $2 blinds, so Horseshoe going 5/10 FL just seems weird and out of step.

What is further odd considering Chillrob's reply, they specifically did it to 'get rid of the white chips'. Of course it doesn't do that since the SB is going to require white. Maybe they are doing it to reduce the times the game runs. I believe it will confuse a few (initially) given how rare a 5/10 limit game is. I also believe more would play it if it were listed as a 4/8. When I was there last weekend (not playing limit) I did not see several of the limit players I would have expected to be there. Admittedly, that is a one point in time look.

@Reducto...the one time I saw the game (only time I have been there) it was a mix of white and red chips. It definitely was more red chips than the typical 4/8 game but every player had 'plenty' of white chips.

One other reason they might be doing this is to reduce the overall quantity of chips. There is no 'real' cage in the room; you buy chips at the check in desk from the floor. I also know Friday night they had a PLO game (2/5 IIRC). After the table chipped up, they were making players go to main cage to rebuy/add on because the rack is not deep enough for that game (not unusual IME) but also the desk did not really have enough $'s to do so there. I am not certain that is because HS has decided for 'security' to keep the $'s in drawer limited OR if it is literally a space for the chips issue. If the latter, reducing # of white for the limit game makes sense. Though it does seem like a poor design.

Assume you meant 5/10 H/L Omaha(limit) not PLO. I see a fair bit of Omaha (usually H/L) played. I even see some half and half Holdem/Omaha at 5/10. But I don't recall much/any straight limit holdem at 5/10. Heck, don't see too much 10/20. Seems like the games GENERALLY go (where limit still goes) as 2/4, 4/8, 8/16, then jumping to 15/30, 20/40, ... (but few if any offer ALL of these blind levels). Below 15/30, it seems to be kept as a white chip game then jump to 15/30 begins the red chips.

I will admit that the jump from 8/16 to 15/30 seems "too" big a jump IMO. Personally, if 15/30, 20/40 or even 10/20 was routinely running locally, I might switch back to fixed limit. I always enjoyed FL over NL but only above 4/8 (or even 8/16). There is a reason 4/8 is called no fold'em hold'em. Still I really enjoy good limit poker (albeit I am WAY too rusty at it now.) I don't know about others but IME 'good' FL is way different from NL (and both are way different for 2/4, 4/8 FL). I preferred FL but it simply doesn't run here.

Yes, Ohmaha (4-card) H/L Limit ..

I did fail to mention that there was a very consistent 15/30 Limit game that ran at Motor City Casino in Detroit for many years 1-2 days a week with Seat 2 and Seat 7 seemingly winning every week! I don't check Bravo the way I used to but I don't think that game has run on the regular since well before CV when the room manager quit and perhaps the Player pool dispersed for one reason or another .. including death and taxes! Every player I’ve spoken too, loves the 5/10 vs 4/8. Blinds are 2/5.

It’s not 5/10 to get rid of white chips. Specifically they want it to be mainly white chips. When players buy in, they are giving white. Trust me when I say it’s not to reduce the quantity of chips but rather increase the pot size.

As far as buying chips at the table…it slows the game down. Might be a hassle for the players…but it keeps the game going. If the dealer isn’t selling chips, then filling the wells over and over and over.
It’s the first week. Things will get moving more smoothly in the coming weeks.

It's easy to pull off the douchebag look without them. Why waste the money to try and add on?

I play three tournaments for the cost. So...no. Shades anyway not allowed at my special casino up north. Without significantly impaired vision seems like a viable take though. As they reflect you are bound to see a little worse though, and eye contact can even induce tells, in others, and socially better...if you work on your own poker face.

It's probably not a good idea to hide your eyes; it dehumanizes you and makes it easier to bluff against you.
