Yes, exactly. That is the ONE room I know doing so and was what prompted my question. Why the heck are they doing it?!?!?!
Not only offering but it has been going at least "most" nights (though with a week of history "most" is an odd term). As the Isle, was always mostly a 4/8 room. Now seems more a 1/3 room (which I like as GN has gotten quite bad IMO) but still with small stakes limit game going (which I also like for those who want to play limit). Coushata is still 4/8, with the "player friendly $1 and $2 blinds, so Horseshoe going 5/10 FL just seems weird and out of step.
What is further odd considering Chillrob's reply, they specifically did it to 'get rid of the white chips'. Of course it doesn't do that since the SB is going to require white. Maybe they are doing it to reduce the times the game runs. I believe it will confuse a few (initially) given how rare a 5/10 limit game is. I also believe more would play it if it were listed as a 4/8. When I was there last weekend (not playing limit) I did not see several of the limit players I would have expected to be there. Admittedly, that is a one point in time look.
@Reducto...the one time I saw the game (only time I have been there) it was a mix of white and red chips. It definitely was more red chips than the typical 4/8 game but every player had 'plenty' of white chips.
One other reason they might be doing this is to reduce the overall quantity of chips. There is no 'real' cage in the room; you buy chips at the check in desk from the floor. I also know Friday night they had a PLO game (2/5 IIRC). After the table chipped up, they were making players go to main cage to rebuy/add on because the rack is not deep enough for that game (not unusual IME) but also the desk did not really have enough $'s to do so there. I am not certain that is because HS has decided for 'security' to keep the $'s in drawer limited OR if it is literally a space for the chips issue. If the latter, reducing # of white for the limit game makes sense. Though it does seem like a poor design.
