That’s true for cash game players because they need the chips again anyway and thanks to RFID they are of very limited value for robbers/thiefs.
For big tournament players, the situation is different. They can’t use casino chips to pay backers, so that part has to go the cash/check/wire route anyway and they also have limited use for amounts of casino chips that exceed a couple tournament buy-ins.
Having that money in an instant access savings account at least limits your loss through inflation. Having 100k in a casino box that you don’t really need basically costs $2k/year.
