Bringing a newborn to the cardroom Bringing a newborn to the cardroom

Does anyone think it would be acceptable to grind with a stroller next to the table? Or maybe I can wear him on my chest while I play? Any cardrooms have a babysitter on site?

Any guidance would be much appreciated

Depending on the casino anyone that's under the allowed gambling age is not allowed to be 'stationary' near any gaming.

I say this because some casinos allow you to walk through in order to get to a food option or gift shop (or just the other side ala chicken) but you can't stop and watch any games.

I found this out one time as I brought my kids through for the buffet and we basically got pounced on when we waited for Grandma to finish up at a slot that was along the walkway.

So to more directly answer your question .. While having your baby with you while playing cards is light years ahead of just leaving kids in a parked car (seen that also). I don't think you'll be allowed to do it anywhere.

Also, there are some casinos that have 'kid spots', but I've never seen one that would accept any kids under 3 or 4 years old. You could call ahead and see if the casino has a partner service for daycare. GL

If the minimum age is 3 or 4 that usually also means they have to be potty-trained.

As answer20 said, there might be regulations against anyone under 21 on the casino floor. We frequently stay at casino hotels for family road trips and have been told at various resorts not to stop anywhere while walking across the casino floor. First time that happened when the oldest was only a couple weeks old and sleeping in the stroller I was actually confused when they approached us about it.

I guess if infants are allowed on the floor and it's a non smoking property, it wouldn't be too different from bringing your kid to something like a beer hall. The latter seems to be socially accepted.

Every once in a while a family will stroll into the poker room where I work, just to look around. And then security will inform them that children aren't allowed to be in the poker room. At all.

I saw a guy with an infant at aria once
.He put the baby in the car seat basket thing on a food tray next to the table and lasted about a minute before the floor told him he had to leave

To be honest when my kids were that small, we'd leave them with relatives or friends if we went to the casino. If you didn't have any close by, you could always get a babysitter. If you're traveling, the hotel can get you bonded babysitters. If you can't afford a babysitter, then there is always taking turns with your partner to take care of your child.

Even a newborn is going to get bored pretty quickly just sitting in a stroller for long and let you know about it. Just not a good idea.

Just the fact that there's a thread about this is mind-boggling.

I'm glad someone said it.

Go on, please elaborate.

Well, like someone said before, even if it was legal, having a newborn strapped on you or in a stroller isn't really conceivable. So many things could go wrong or would at least disturb you and you would slow the game noticeably.

Also, I bet there wouldn't be that much free space between tables that the stroller would be on the way of waitresses, etc.

And if he's strapped on you, playing your cards would be tricky at best.

I agree with everything else in your post but don't think that playing poker with a baby carrier would be that difficult.

I'm able to cook full meals with the carrier on. If you're worried about having the baby right in front of you, you can always put the carrier on your back. That works surprisingly well in my experience. In the card room you would have to turn around your chair, same way you do when getting a massage. Personally I would be worried about somebody bumping into the baby on my back though.

Exactly. And if strapped in front, you would need very long arms to be comfortable handling chips and cards "comfortably", imo.

You really can't figure this one out?

The fact that you want to bring a baby to a poker room makes me so sad for your baby and the fact that they have to grow up with at least one horrible parent.

I can't figure out why you would pass judgement on someone you don't know. Maybe I'm a single parent between jobs and this is the way I feed my child?

mod: OK, that's enough of that.
