A memo was also sent out stating that employees who do not reach a certain number of hands per down will receive additional training and if they still don't meet department standard after a certain amount of time, they will "recommend separation from the position" (lulz).
Have any of you ever seen an employee disciplined because of their hand count anywhere? I never have. (Not saying there shouldn't be, just that I've never seen it.) My guess is that this is just posturing by management because there are a couple of people on the low end that they could never ever get rid of due to... other factors - you know what I'm talking about.
Do they actively seek to improve hand counts where you work?
I have heard of this being done in the pit, but not in poker (though I'm sure that dealers have been singled out ... I just never heard of a procedure in place for all dealers).
I worked in aroom where they posted the bravo handcounts. And dealers in another room told me that they post them there and have some sort of prize for the dealer who comes out on top.
I don't see anything wrong with the casino having standards that dealers need to meet ... provided the standards are reasonable and the method of measurement is fair.
I don't really trust the Bravo system for handcounts. For one thing it will fail to count hands where there is no rake, it doesn't have any means to account for slow play ....
And I have been told that it can be gamed. One of our floor people demonstrated that he could get false hand readings simply by opening and closing the rake drop apparently the light sensor could be triggered this way even without a drop.
I suspect that the bravo hand counts are more reliable for measuring relative speed when comparing dealers (assuming no one is intentionally creating false readings) working the same shift over a long period of time ..... but not so reliable for measuring the actual number of hands dealt.
