He was not amused.
And then the other player asks for check change because he doesn't want the black chip right? Problem solved, no more black chip...

Yes ... big chips on bottom comes from pit play ... and when you leave the table and don't want them easily accessible but 'forget' to put them back on top.

We have a chronic north/south guy who loves to hide chips as well. Most of the Dealers will call him out every push ... and then by the end of the down they are back to being hid. He loves sitting in the 1 or 9 to 'acquire' even more 'cover' for his stack. Seems like a lot of effort, he's plenty the good Player without having to include this into his game. GL

The only logical excuse I've heard from a player about not wanting to put his big chips on top is that he might accidentally bet them. As in not looking down at his stack, wanting to bet $10, but instead throwing in a black and a red for $105. More of a complain in tournaments actually, when a player wants to bet 2000 and actually throws in 6000 or 10000 because a 5k or 2 are on top. That's why my answer is normally that the big chips don't have to be on top necessarily but they must be visible at all times. AKA not on the bottom.

“If you just announce the amount you want to bet, or that you want to call, you’re always protected against this kinda thing happening”. But people don’t want to protect themselves against their own idiocy.

I had a guy the other night who seemed determined to mis-bet every time the action was on him and would argue endlessly after the hand that what he did was ok. No amount of calm explaining by dealers or floor would convince him.

1) 3-way pot against one short and one big stack. He points at the short stack and says "I'm all in for him" meaning he wanted to bet whatever that guy had.
2) P1 bets 26, he says "double it" and puts in 60, but argues that he bet 52.
3) $1 in for big blind, silently throws in a red chip then after the bets are pulled in says he raised to $6.
4) "I bet what's in the pot", throws in a pile of chips.
5) Puts out $60, pulls his hand back, then reaches back out and removes $10.

He was not a new player and was upset that we didn't have a $2/5 or $5/10 running.

I think I'd argue that the $52 bet stands.

I'll grant you that....then argue in return for, "Deal him out."

I would get so frustrated from this.

And honestly, if I was the floor and I saw the same player do not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5 different versions of this, I'd kick his ass out.

There were more than 5 different versions, those were just the ones I remembered clearly.

With #2 I actually tried to help out by stopping him before he put chips out and saying I needed him to say the number, but he refused and put in the $60.

Someone needs to pull that guy aside and tell him this isn't his Friday night homegame, there are rules.

"Double it" when facing a known bet size seems fine to me. $52 bet stands.

For everything else... send him home for 24.

You think you've seen everything...

Dealing a heads-up game. Guy takes it down on the turn, shows his hole cards before mucking. His opponent looks up, demands, "What'd he show?", in that fully entitled SOSA voice...

And I'm thinking, "well, if YOU didn't see it, then he didn't show it!", knowing full well there's nobody in America I can expect to see it that way.

I was let off the hook when the winner told him, and was accepted at his word.

If a player demands SOSA...

Spoiler:
then you know that you're dealing 1-2 NL, low limit hold'em, or Omaha Hi-Lo.

This never comes up in 2-5 NL or bigger.

Anyone with half a brain should see it that way.

Who is the one that it was shown to?
Who is the all that now deserves to see it?

I had someone invoke SOSA after a player showed their cards to me and nobody else. I reminded him that I was not a person and mucked the cards.

I've seen an idiot invoke SOSA when the blinds agreed to chop then showed their hand to each other before throwing them in...

We usually spread our smallest game on Table 1, at the front of the room. Earlier this week, a mid-stakes player surprised me by taking a seat at this table while waiting for his normal game. After a few hands, he remarked, "You have some fine-looking women walking around in here tonight!"

"Wait till Saturday!", I replied. "It's Derby Day, the place is *packed* with dolled-up girls...and try to get a seat at *this* table, it's the best seat in the house!"

(I added that a Real World 6 is a Poker Room 9, and got no argument.)

Well, today was unbelievable. This "let's get dressed up and go watch the Derby" thing is really starting to catch on....and the weather was probably the nicest it's been for a Derby Day since I moved up here to the Great White North...and the Derby had just finished, and literally thousands of race-goers are checking out the cardroom...AND WE ARE WALL TO WALL IN HOT GIRLS IN SHORT TIGHT DRESSES AND HIGH HEELS.

This...this simply does not happen around here. What a breath of fresh air!

None of them are playing, they're just walking around, hanging out....and I got the best seat in the house!

The players are appreciating the unusual scenery, as well. Except one OMC, of course. After 4-5 approving comments, OMC snarls, "I think it's comical!"

He paused to inhale before continuing, and I jumped right in before he could crap on everyone's enjoyment. Shaking my head, I told him, "Nope! You're not gonna rain on MY parade!" I was delighted that he STFU.
