I had to look up 3-technique tackle, but I would have known B gap tackle.
The tampa 2 is a simple 4-3 defense where the MLB drops back to cover the middle of the field. The 4-6 I also had to look up - it's another 4-3 defense where 8 play in the box with lockdown corners.
AN illegal formation is one without 7 men on the LOS, with the two outside guys being eligible.
the fumble rule drives me crazy too. If you fumble it OOB at the half yard line, it's your ball in scoring territory. but if it goes out 2 feet farther it goes to the other team? nonsense - they should treat it just like a defensive PI in the end zone (which also can't be placed at the spot of the foul) and give it to you on the 1 yard line.
Well yeah, anybody could look them up, it only makes my point for me! You've been watching football your whole life, and didn't know the definition of these common terms. And since you knew the routes and the illegal formation, that puts you as one of the smartest kids in the class! Imagine how dumb the other guys sound!
My 13-year-old daughter posted on her FB today, "What's the big deal with football? Why is everyone so obsessed with it? It's too confusing, too many numbers and stuff. How is anyone supposed to understand it?"
I posted back, "Don't worry, sweetie. Some day, you'll meet a boy who will explain it all to you patronizingly. This is how you will know he loves you. And if you resist the urge to tell him to stop, and you pretend to listen, this how he will know you love him."
