But then they would only have the shuffle machine to blame for their losing.

Player leaves table to buy pack of mints. Returns. "Anyone want a mint?"

Three players and the dealer respond gratefully.

Mint Man is wearing earbuds. Doesn't hear any response.

No one gets a mint.

And we all had to stare longingly at the package of mints now sitting on the rail.

A few days ago I was called for a higher game and after waiting about 15 min for people to sit down, we had 5 players and we agreed to start.

I was in seat one, seat 4,5, and 6 were occupied as well as seat 9 (9 handed table).

As we were cutting for the button, seat 5, the guy in the middle of 3 players who were literally shoulder to shoulder and almost on top of each other (in a 5 handed game), seat 5 asked seat 6 to move over an inch because he couldn't get his chair to push all the way in. Seat 6 was around 60 years old, looked like he could play a role as a mafia kingpin in a move, refused to budge. The floor was called as I was calmly trying to explain to him this wasn't right and he should move over but he looked at me like a deer in headlights.

So the guy was given two options - either move over an inch or leave. I've dealt bj in casinos for years when I was in school and I've never seen anyone like him.

I was able to record what transpired (no faces are shown) . I think the supervisor handled him pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjSl0xuFLh0

Old guys seem to have the most trouble with this for some reason.

I do recognize the guy on the left with the black hair.

That's classic! LOL poker players.

"Sir, you'll need to give him back the 1st seat change button."
"But I ALWAYS get the 1st seat change button."
"Well he asked for it first today sir."
"I'm not giving it back. I always get it."
"I'm sorry but that's not how it works. You'll have to give it back."
-more arguing-
(old grump swallows the button)
"Well I'd like to see him get it from me now."
(Dealer tosses the other guy the 2nd seat change button and can't help but smile)

Such a freak show in the poker room.

which is why I don't go as often as I used to. These types of effing people are insufferable.

The other night seat 9 lifts his shirt and gives himself an insulin injection while he was in a hand. just. gross.

"Did he really swallow a seat change button?"

Probably not.

...but the fact that we can't rule it out immediately, speaks volumes!

Don't forget, asking a guy to give an inch in a 5-handed game is no record.

This happened to me once in a heads-up game.

"You're supposed to be over THERE!"
"I'm right where I'm supposed to be! Dealer, square the table!"

This has long been my go-to example when describing my job to people.

I once had a player call me over to square the table. He was not pleased when I observed he had extra room and had the players on each side of him move closer to him.

This is always my favorite version of "square the table" guy. Just completely oblivious to the world.

I honestly don't know how these people function in society outside a cardroom.

sol·ip·sism (ˈsäləpˌsizəm) noun
the view or theory that the self is all that can be known to exist.

I've only recently learned that word. Google it like I did. You'll quickly recognize a lot of traits displayed by poker players.

Those folks are everywhere, of course--just highly concentrated in poker rooms, all I'm saying.

Once had a guy who asked the table square up. He was in seat and somewhat to the right of his cup holder. When I asked the table to square up, this guy proceeds to move more to his right, Bobby's Breakroom - for gaming employee chatter + YTF appreciation. See restrictions in Post #1

Anyone want to move to the Great Lakes State? Gun Lake Casino south of Grand Rapids, Michigan ... 14 table room projected to open on (or after) Labor Day.

"New dealers will initially learn blackjack, completing a free-training, prior to promotion to the poker room. On average, new full-time dealers can expect to make up to $43,000 annually, with free health insurance, free shift meals, among many other benefits."

GR is the 'good' side of the state, we could use some good Dealers and Floors for what will be my new home casino. Can't imagine this room not doing well on the cash side and 'daily' tournaments. There is a much more established casino (20+ tables at FireKeepers) about 50 minutes away that already has a very well established tournament presence with MSPT and their own large, deeper tournaments but it will be intersting to see where things are at a year from now.

A very large portion of the player pool has had to drive by Gun Lake Casino (Wayland, MI) for 6 years waiting for them to add their poker room. GL

Last week I was running a tournament, and we were down to 11 players. 5 and 6. Both tables were asking me to go hand-for-hand, which is something we only do if we feel there is a need. I couldn't help myself from laughing when each table was blaming the other for stalling.

answer,

First why are you spamming multiple threads with your job listings, and second lololol 'free health insurance'.

Each table blaming the other for stalling is not actually inconsistent with reality. Both tables could be stalling and doing it because they the other table is stalling.

First, this is actually an appropriate thread for that post. Second, full time positions with benefits can be hard to come by in this industry. I'm not sure why you think it's laughable.
