Ime, there are many more ways one can angle with a line than without.

DetroitJ ... Handled fine. If you pull in the cards before the Floor gets there the rage is on you and not the ruling. (Smart by default there!!)

Betting lines can create more issues than prevent IMO. I prefer (one) forward motion even if the chips are cut 'in front' of the cards or even well into 'the betting area'. I understand the need for them at 'tournament' tables that are used for cash since it can be tough, and slow, for the Dealer to try and pull everything in. Best to put the next card out and then pull in the bets at these tables. GL

Young guy is cashing out five black chips at the cage, with three friends in tow. They are all very excited, this is a big win for them. They're all laughing, and are all tightly packed around the window, to watch the ceremonial Counting Of The Cash.

The player requests that $300 of it be paid out in $10 bills.

Huh?

He's going to the strip club, and that's how he wants it.

"You're going to give 'em TENS???", his friends cry, incredulous. They all try to talk him out of it (even the cashier is stalling now, HOPING his friends talk him out of it!), but to no avail. His mind is made up.

Then one of his friends hits him with, "Who are you, Money Mayweather???"

I cracked up. It was the funniest thing I've seen in a casino in a long, long time.

PA ANNOUNCEMENT: Players, you still have time to sign up for tonight's No Limit Hold'em Tournament....

PLAYER: (to me) How many chips do you start out with, in that tournament?

ME: Eight thousand, I think?

PLAYER: (scoffs) Pfffft! That's IT???

ME: Why do I get the feeling that would have been your response to ANY answer I would have given there?

(I told this story to another dealer. He told me, "Actually, it's ten thousand." I replied, "Good, he'll be happy about that--oh that's right, no, he won't!")

this is really good

reading along, i wasn't sure if TENS were going to be too big or too small. i've been in places where either makes sense. both are equally funny, imo.

I was always amazed at the players that asked "How many chips do we get?" instead of "What is the structure?"

So when I'm pushing you the pot....

....and your response is to hold your hands out in front of you, about a foot above the pot...

...I want to ask you....

..."Were you once injured when the chips splashed up into your face?"

Cuz I don't get that.

I routinely push pots to folks who hold their hands out in front of them like the pile of chips were a campfire. They look like they're protecting themselves from being splashed by any chips that may fly up into their face from my pushing.

I see it at least once a down, I swear.

My go-to when a player reaches out for the pot I'm pushing him is for me to stop pushing. Let him climb on top of the table if he has to and get those chips himself.

So far, nobody's complained about it yet. And I no longer get the creeps from trying to push a pot from someone whose enthusiasm is so uncontrollable that it's putting his hands in the way of me trying to push him chips.

I'll tell a new player, "Let me push it to you," just a dealer once told me a million years ago when I was a newb.

If he's not a newb, I stop pushing the minute the player makes contact. If someone says anything, my line is, "I don't need any MORE scratches on these hands."

Today if you wanted on the EO list you had to draw a picture next to your name showing why you wanted an EO.

I think the champagne bubbles in the glass I drew sealed the deal.

I wanted to come back and let everyone know I got hired as a chip runner that they are going to work into dealing! I'm just waiting to get cleared by gaming which hopefully doesn't take more than a couple of weeks.

My first thought as well. It took NH six WEEKS to vet me. They said they needed to run separate checks in every state I've ever worked. I guess they decided to run them consecutively instead of concurrently--why pay for seven, if I flunk one?

I had to go find a crummy job for a while.

Florida, as you should already know, does not have its act together in many, many different ways.

But at least getting into the gaming business isn't the nightmare I'm seeing here.

As I recall, it took me about 72 hours to get my temporary/provisional gaming license and I was cleared to work as a dealer when I first got hired. With my temporary license I was in the box and getting experience (and full pay). And my permanent license arrived about 2 or 3 weeks later.

I applied for a license in Maryland that included my high school transcript, my driving record report, fingerprints, and 45 page questionnaires filled out by 2 references so I could work a 10 day event. That was almost a year ago, I still have not heard back about my permanent license.

For Nevada I filled out an online form in 15 minutes. I'm not sure how long it takes to be approved but it's fast. Property changes take about 5 minutes.

Seminole Tribe of Florida was almost as easy and as far as I can tell the license is permanent and works at other Seminole properties without hassle which I have not seen anywhere else.

In New York mine took 2 weeks, others took 2-3 months for unknown reasons.

Congrats on the new job! Good chip runners really help the dealers keep games moving. Keep things running smoothly and they'll help you move into the box.

Wait until Massachusetts gets in the game. The state that said Caesars Entertainment is not worthy of being granted a license to open a casino there. The state that only approved casino gaming on the condition that the State Police and Attorney General's office be overhauled to include supervising these inherently crooked businesses (???).

Construction of the new Wynn going up in Boston is months AHEAD of schedule...but watch what happens when the brand new Gaming Commission gets involved. For context, the casino bill passed in 2011, and we're still waiting for the first card to be pitched. The governor took a YEAR to name a chief Gaming Commisioner, and that guy took another year naming the rest of the Commissioners. Only then did they start vetting the corporations who applied for one of the 2-3 casino licenses (a cap mandated by the law approving these evil casinos; I'm pretty sure they're sticking with 2 instead of 3)....when they turned their nose up to Caesar's, I immediately lost all interest in returning to my home state to ply my trade.

GL to any of you who think you're going to apply for a job there, and have no trouble getting approved.

I'm with you, another super crooked State is my home little Rhode Island.
When Twin River added table games, I immediately applied as It would be a 7 minute drive to work versus 50 mins at Foxwoods.
The process for a license was depressing, two guys who have probably worked for the State for 100 years and the most miserable pricks you can meet in your life!
Oh and yeah, it took 3 months to get the license.

MA will probably be the same or worst, but I might take a shot at working in Everett.
