“FLOOR”

Should take care of the issue.

On a serious note, this is unacceptable and he probably needs to go depending on how serious he was about it.

The same way you deal with a grumpy old white man saying stupid crap like that you.

Not sure why you think the raise of the speaker is relevant.

Player's race isn't relevant, throwing racial epithets is. But calling the dealer 'fkn <anything>' should be enough to have the player thrown out, barring situational banter or whatever.

Not to pile on, but he's got to go. If your floor won't eject someone for that, they won't eject for anything and I encourage you to find a new room where you'll be able to work without direct abuse.

Is there some magic phrase to use to a floor to indicate that a player needs to be gone NOW? I had a player who was on some combination of pain meds and alcohol who had no idea what was happening around him. He was slowing the game WAY down and he kept lifting up his shirt as he told and retold the story about how he broke his ribs in an accident and was still in pain. There was lots of profanity and random lashing out at anyone who tried to get him to stay on task. I did my best to diplomatically tell the floor what was going on but the only response I got was "If it happens again let me know."

I went back to the floor after my down to let him know 4 players had already left the table due to him and was told the shift supervisor was notified and not to worry about it. As far as I know he was allowed to stay until he left on his own.

Wow, did anyone talk to him and ask him to please follow the game?

Yes, many people including myself did. He was not able to comply due to his altered mental state. I guess I could have dealt him out but he wanted to try and play so I figured I would just finish out the down then talk to the floor again.

I do understand that most of the time when a floor is called over all that's really needed is a guy in a suit to tell everyone to be adults. I just haven't figured out how to indicate when it's one of those versus when it's something more. Or, maybe it's not my place to make those decisions and all I can do is pass along the information and keep things moving as well as I can in the meantime.

Nobody's really taken this angle, but I think the Dealer really needs to set the tone at the table especially if the room is full of regs. Yes, this could go either way with some players feeling sorry for the quiet Dealer 'having' to take the abuse and/or call the Floor but I think more will respect the Dealer for protecting 'their' game ... if given the opportunity by the V.

If V has already passed a threshold with the first 'attack' then so be it, call the Floor and hopefully the Floor and Dealer are on the same page. This is what I fear the most, the Dealer 'shows his hand' by calling the Floor and then still has to deal with the offender for the rest of the down with possibly little hope of correction.

We have a 'no swearing' room in my area where the Floor quit and now a 'swearing' player has come back to the room (with a very good chance of dropping 5 buy-ins per visit). The new Floor is an eye roller about the swearing and now the Dealers just let it go ... There is a new line in the sand.

Not that this is the case here, but there are certain people that just need to push everyone they meet until they find out where their line in the sand pops up. I had an employee who 'tested' every new hire to the point where I actually warned new hires to be prepared for it. After a while the V actually muttered that 'these new hires aren't fun anymore' when he couldn't get a rise out them. GL

When there is a time that you have no doubt a player needs to go it is on you to make sure your floor is aware that THIS is one of those times. Don't be afraid to just say it. This leaves no doubt to the floor that they need to act. So many supervisors are afraid to do anything until you've made it clear that they need to. Once you've done this they are throwing themselves under the bus if they don't do something. I have been in the business long enough to know that look that a dealer gives me when they think I need to handle someone and have zero fear in dealing with problem patrons, but I remember being that new guy that was afraid to deal with it.

In your situation I would prefer you just call me over to you so you can discretely tell me "seat 4 has to go. He's out of it and can't keep up with the game and it is causing a major problem".

I really don't care if someone overhears this because he HAS to go.

If a guy is just being a dick like the OP go ahead and call him out. "seat 4 just called me a ****ing whiteboy and told me to deal better. I'm uncomfortable with continuing to deal with him here". At this point if your floor doesn't pull the guy off the game you have a terrible supervisor.

If you don't want to say it in front of the players ... Tell the floor you need to get off the table.

The rumour mill is going crazy. We're getting new owners next month and they're also taking over some racetrack/slot places (and likely adding some table games/poker to them in the future).

"I know a guy who plays video poker there, he told me they've already built the poker room, they've just got it hidden for now until they officially take over." Based on this statement only the whole table was convinced. Not only convinced but elaborating on it. There was a suggestion they should send someone to our room and ask "the best players" how they should run it.

"Just you wait, once new management takes over all you dealers and floors are going to get fired because you're so bad and real owners won't stand for it!"

"As soon as the new rooms open no one is ever going to come here again. Good riddance this is the worst poker room I've ever played in." <--- plays at least 5x per week. I have serious doubts he has in fact played in a single other room. There are dozens of this guy in the room.

Pretty sure I’m leaving the business very very soon. If/when things get tough in new job, I will remember this post above and soldier through those tough moments.

"Attention players. Did anyone... lose a hundred?"

Seat 2 tosses in three chips to call. They all roll toward the empty 3 and 4 seats. He gathers two of them, puts them where they belong, but does not reach for the third.

Neither do I. The guy sitting closest to this wayward chip is the guy who threw it there, let him stretch/stand to get it. I'm twice as far from it as he is.

The preflop action is complete. I do not pull in the bets. I just look at the 2-seat.

HIM: I can't reach that one.
ME: And I *CAN*???

The players LOL'd. Seat 2 relented, started to stretch a tiny bit, but Seat 5 came to his rescue.

EVERYONE was in a good mood tonight! No drama, lots of drinking, lots of huge pots, lots of huge tokes. Man, if every night were like this! Everyone making NYE a two-day event, I guess.

I got a chuckle from a heads-up pot. First player has the sunglasses, hat, earbuds, and is sitting still as a statue and waiting 10-15 seconds before checking on every street. Midway through Act III, his opponent cracked, "This guy watches too much poker on tv!"

After all, no-one is more privy to the successful casino business model than a bunch of degenerates who hang around a poker room all day.

At 11:45pm, a young couple was on tv getting married in Times Square, on national TV. The bride was gorgeous, looked like a model in her lace dress.

It was not the typical short-and-sweet TV wedding ceremony, it droned on for a while.

It was zero degrees in Times Square.

"Someone ought to tell her what happened to William Henry Harrison!", I cracked.

No one at my table laughed.

My talents are wasted on these unwashed masses.

I've told this joke to about 20 people now. Only two laughed. But they were *big* laughs.

I remember a few Dennis Miller jokes that used to get that kind of response.

YTF: Floor!

FLOOR: Yes?

YTF: I'm all out of Missed Blind buttons. Could you grab me some?

FLOOR: (annoyed that I'm making him DO something, he takes a shot at me as he heads off to get the buttons) These Patriots fans, this is what they do....

YTF: (fires back) Yeah, what we do in JANUARY, Lions fan!
