I have picked up a loose tournament chip before in this situation, and will continue to do so.

Pretty easy to get a dealer/floor's attention and pick it up 'together'. GL

Either pick it up, do the grown-up thing, like I do: pretend you didn't see it!

Sorry, didn't clarify. It's a 4-8 limit game. All our games have the same $30, but 4-8 is our smallest.

The younger players smiled. The older players didn't know what was going on.
Tonight, it was Prince's "Kiss". You know, "You don't have to be rich to be my girl, you don't have to be cool to rule my world..."

I needed to hand-shuffle, so I gave them a wash. Then I picked them up, and dropped the deck on it's side. Now it's time to move the cards side-to-side to square it up and start shuffling. But the chorus is ending, and Prince is singing, "I just want your extra time and your [guitar] ting-aling-aling-aling-aling[/guitar] kiss!"

I wiggled the deck side-to-side while the guitar did that riff. It was PERFECT.

It's a boring job, you gotta find your excitement where you can get it.

All respect and props to Prince... Tom Jones sang it better.

Dealing a big PLO game a year or two ago, average chip stack was probably in the neighborhood of $10K. Seat 1 had a habit of dropping a toke directly into my tip box when he won a hand (I keep my box to my left). After he won a hand and was stacking his chips, he realized that he was missing one of his 1K chips. We looked on the ground, and double checked that it wasn't buried somewhere inside his other colored chips, and then I asked the supervisor to check inside my tip box. Sure enough, there it was. He'd meant to tip me a red chip all along.

I have told this story before but ....

One day dealing an unusual game a notch bigger than the usual biggest game in the room.

In the game sat one of the regulars from the standard game. This guy was a reasonably reliable $1 per hand tipper if the pot was decent sized. Never more than $1 ... but you could count on the $1.

I push him a pot which is particularly big for this game, but not small. He tosses me a $25 chip. These are not used on his usual game. I have no problem with the colors but I have heard people complain that they look like our blue $1 chips.

I know he has them mixed up. So I get his attention and point out the fact that this is a $25 chip. He thanks me as he takes it back .... and then doesn't throw me the $1 chip which he had mistaken it for.....

Lock that baby up next time!

I love this one ... When you are dealing a big game and a guy tosses you a $5 chip and asks you to break it down for him, so you ship him the 5 whites and he puts them on top of his stack but doesn't give you one so I just shake my head and move to the next hand!

I dealt an O/8 game today with out of town players laughing, joking, and toking.

It was like a bizzaro world.

Come back to Missouri.... Our best tipping game is 20-40 LHE and our O/8 game consistently averages $1.5 tip per hand.

(two players discussing the state of politics, without the soap-boxing)

P1: People are at each other's throats nowadays...but one good thing, it's been decades since this many people are paying attention.

P2: Yeah, I guess that's good for the game!

I've been mildly freaking out the last few days because I have no idea how the cards are getting to the seat directly to my right. There have been a couple of occasions where I panic because I think I forgot to deal them in only to look over and see two perfectly placed cards right there. Even trying hard to pay attention to my pitch I simply can't see or feel it happening. It's so automatic that I'm no longer able to observe it.

I'm not sure if I'm becoming a good dealer or going mad. Perhaps both, quite possibly neither.

Wait until you're getting pushed and think 'no I just got here and haven't dealt a hand yet.' That's when you know you've got it. And then riding your high the next table will be a tournament and you'll put out the flop as soon as you grab the antes, before you deal any cards.

The local NBA team (26th best record, out of 30) hosted another lousy team tonight (only two more wins), and it was on every tv in the place. Normally, this team is mostly ignored, but tonight, everyone was living and dying with every shot, and every botched play was critiqued to death.

I think the Super Bowl activated the Armchair Quarterback part of everyone's brain yesterday, and they were dying for more today.

"Oh, how could they pass on 3rd and one? And take the sack? ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS KICK A FG AND YOU WIN...!"

How is it that not ONE of them realizes that the coach, when he made that decision, did not enjoy the benefit of hindsight that makes the right call so easy to see?

Every armchair coach knows you run it 3x and kick the FG in that situation. I had a guy next to me say I'll bet you a hundo they run it 3 in a row because I mentioned they'll probably get stupid and throw a pick since this is rigged anydamnway. Should have took the damn bet, but I'd have to be as dumb as the play caller to do that.

I was at a loud party, so without the sound it was tough to keep up with situations (downs, field position, time, etc). Maybe when I get to re-watch, this blunder will become more glaring...

...but I'm the only guy in the world who thinks Pete Carroll was correct to call a pass play on 2nd and goal, so I've been reluctant to take everyone's word that the Falcons "clearly" made a mistake here.

To get the topic back to gambling: funny post in Sports Betting who can't believe the pick-6 return doesn't count for his Longest Play from Scrimmage prop bet; and my old sportsbook boss is getting scolded on Twitter for not paying the Yes on Will There Be a Lead Change in the 4th qtr (the lead did not change hands in the 4th, New England merely tied the game; bettor believes that was part of the process of the lead changing hands, will not be dissuaded).

I couldn't help myself with the armchair qb's at the end of the NBA game I mentioned. When no less than FOUR players at my table agreed that a guy who missed a shot should have passed instead, it led to this exchange:

YTF: (Insert name of casino where I work here) is bringing in some of those (NBA team name here) players for an appearance--they're going to sit here and critique how bad YOU guys play!

PLAYER: (tries to defend his criticism of the play)

YTF: I'm willing to bet those guys are better at poker, than you are at basketball!

ANOTHER PLAYER: Well yeah, because they have so much more money--

YTF: No, level playing field. Freeze-out for any nominal dollar amount.

PLAYERS: (look skeptical)

YTF: If they shove blind every hand, they got a 30-40% chance of busting you. I can't think of ANYTHING you can do to give yourself a 30% chance of beating them at basketball!

PLAYERS: (cannot counter that)

YTF: (mic drop)

This is as good as when ya'll called the coach to send in the backup QB for the last play kneeldown.
