Yep, place I worked we carried our own tray but also had a toke box. That way of we were short they knew we screwed up and if we were over they knew we screwed up. Had to sign paperwork that went in our file either way.

If I worked in a room like this, the only limit to my tip count at the end of the night would be how much I thought I could get away with stealing before people became too suspicious. And my conscience... I guess. But $200/night extra seems easy.

So $200 pee night is the limit your conscience will allow you to steal?

I'm trying to think of a good reason why somebody who is likely paid lots of money to make decisions would decide that letting dealer put tips into their tray was a good idea.

Holdover from old snatch games would be my guess.

Even if dealer tokes go in a toke box its still a problem. because its easier for a dealer to get chips from the pot into the rack then to get them into a pocket, and its easier to get them from the rack to a pocket if you can do it when you are away from a table.

The reason that management likes it .... is it saves time and labor for fills .... Dealers can get fills before starting a string, keep the rack the way they want and there is no loss of game time with dealers fixing or counting the rack when they sit down.

No, $200/night is a low estimate of how much I could take from the tables per night without getting caught.

How much my conscience would allow depends on how much I like the players.

But $200 might be suspicious if I'm counting my tips in front of a supervisor and reporting an amount, so I might have to keep it under $100/night to play it safe.

On the other hand, if I can just convert the chips into my pocket and go home, the sky's the limit.

Having dealt in the days of snatch n grab, I can say $7 rake per hand would be cheaper for the players.

One room I worked in the 80's, the cage would come by at about 10 mins after the push to get the rake from the dealer. Basically, the dealer had 10 mins to collect the half hour's worth of rake. But some would have been left over for the next half hour too.

Dealers could easily rake 140% or more in 10 mins without a single thought. That being said, just making change for the pot could make dealers a lot of extra income in a carry your tray room.

Merry Christmas you bums. Thanks for all you've each offered the community here. This is definitely one of the few places I check on regularly because I like the people here. Good luck over the holidays, friends!

Won a holiday lottery and had Christmas Eve and Day away from the casino.

I hadn't worked them for years. Decided to pick them up for someone with little kids this year. Won't be doing that again any time soon. Lightest weekend all year and nearly had a fistfight over seat changes (yes, of course it was Omaha).

Do you guys do an either/or Xmas/new year?

Yeah I've often said to those who asked that Christmas morning is THE most depressing time in a casino, because the "people" who are there don't even have one friend or family member that would invite them over for the holiday because they are such miserable people to be around.

Days off:
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Day. You can put in for one of those and there's a drawing and I think 3 people per shift get it off.

If it falls on your normal day off, you still get your day off. Since I have Sun/Mon off, I put in for Christmas Eve (sat) and won it. Boom! 3 day holiday weekend.

You know Christmas isn't a holiday for everyone?

This year it fell on my natural days off. I don't care about Christmas as its not my holiday ..... but I hate to work New Years eve and do whatever I can to avoid it. It's been years since I have had to work NYE.

Two different places my first day on the floor was NYE (one I had been a dealer and one I was taking over the room and Gaming finally came through with license on NYE).

The player in seat 10 racks up and leaves the table. The player in seat 4 notifies me of his intent to switch to seat 10 after the button passes. A new player comes to the table and puts his rack of chips down at seat 10.

"I'm sorry, sir, but that seat is taken."

The new player looks at me incredulously and says, "But I'm Brad!!"

"Okay. I'm sorry, Brad, but that seat is taken."

Brad never stuck around to make it into seat 4.

So you just let Brad walk away thinking there was no open seat?

Could have easily cleared things up by saying,
"Brad, you'll be in the four seat."
