I didn't know you were a dealer pfap!

As far as them being sweeter to the ladies...I can't say you are wrong.

Re: The Breakroom: low-content gaming employee chatter thread

any roulette dealers in here?
question. is it possible to create a roulette payout of exactly 500 using exactly 20 chips, all placed on the inside of the table? assume we are using a european roulette wheel and there is no '00' so the 5 number bet (6-1) is not possible.

Don't need a roulette dealer ... you need a mathematician.

(A*35) +(B*17) +(C*8)+(D*11)+(E*5)

A+B+C+D+E=20

Where A,B,C,D,E are all integers => 0

if you can solve that you have it (no I can't solve it)

A represents the number of chips on the number straight up
B represents the number of chips on a number on a split (two number bet)
C represents the number of chips on the number on a corner
D represents the number of chips on the number a street (3 number bet)
E represents the number of chips on the number on a 6 number bet

It's impossible. It's also impossible to get 501.

You forget the 2:1 and 1:1 bets. And do all the bets have to win?

14 straight up (490) with 2 on the line (or double street) (10) and 4 on a losing number.

I'm sure the choice was between the first three shifts, or the 5-3am shifts.

The puzzle stated the bets had to be "placed on the inside of the table".

It's doable if you allow outside bets. One example would be scoring on all the wagers after placing $13 at 35:1, $2 at 1:1, and $1 at 2,5,8,11,17:1. That's $20 wagered, 13*25+2+2+5+8+11+17 = $500 returned.

Without the outside wagers, no, it can't be done.

Re: The Breakroom: low-content gaming employee chatter thread

Anyway, getting back to the WSOP question, I had two dealer friends who worked it this last year....one told me that it was just alright, and the other one had a really good experience, raving about how they provided food and they were treated really great and the floormen stood up for them, they didn't have any hassles or problems etc, so take that for what it's worth, my friend was really happy with the experience.

I was interested in dealing this year just to have something to do on my days off and to keep busy, but was not willing on taking the chance of my place frowning on that and losing my job.

Re: The Breakroom: low-content gaming employee chatter thread

This post doesn't belong in any thread, anywhere, so I'll cram it into this LC thread:

I played a tourney at my local card barn. After the break, I asked the TD how many players were in the field.

Of course, "right after the break" is the moment that late registration closes, and all the regulars start howling for the payouts to be calculated and posted, so this TD presumed I was asking about that. He explained to me that registration had just closed, and it will take a few minutes before he could post the payouts.

"Payouts??", I asked in my best Jim Mora voice. "Don't talk about payouts. Payouts?? Are you kiddin' me? Payouts? I just want to win a hand! Payouts???"

It got a huge laugh. I've used it a few times since, and it's a hit every time.

Wait, what? Shouldn't it pay 35 (or, 34 if it's 35 to 1)? I'm missing something obvious here.

A straight up bet pays 35 to 1 which can also be stated as 36 for 1.

Meaning for each unit bet you are paid 35 additional units when you win.

Typing is hard. I meant 35. And as psand noted, 35 to 1 means you put up 1, I put up 35, and we see who wins it all.

Actually, you missed AGAIN!

35 to 1 means you put up 34, I put up 1, and someone takes the 35... as psandman's example alluded to.. and as I was expecting.

35:1 is what you just described.

/nitschooling- I win!

Actually you are wrong. 35 to1 means if it hits you can have 36 and down. 35for1 means 35 and down or 34 and still up.

35 to 1 = 35:1 = 36 for 1

From my experience at the roulette table, this is correct. If you bet 1 chip on a number and it hits, the dealer gives you 35 chips and the dealer leaves your original bet on the table on the winning number so you actually have 36 chips when all is said and done (your original plus a profit of 35 chips).
