God this stuff is golden. And there's a million examples like this.

Reminds me of the player who wanted a "30 dollar no six" so the dealer grabbed the "on" button, turned it around, and placed the thirty dollars on top of it and on the 6.

That one's pretty good too.

Hi everyone, been reading the posts for a while, decided it's time to contribute!

I was dealing a limit stud tournie a couple months ago...a little old grandma was playing at my table, early in the tournament. She had been playing a bit of 1-5 stud, knew somewhat how to play. She was having some difficulty with the denomination of the chips and everyone on the table was happy to help her out.

One player gets to the end of a hand with her and declares "I have a strait". She looks at her cards and says 'oh dear, I only have two pair' and throws her cards face up onto the table.

I look at them, declare, "two pairs...of threes...red & black" and push her the pot. Entire table was laughing, even the guy with the strait.

She outlasted about 2/3 of the field, even with all the help she was getting!

I've always been impressed with the Full Tilt dealers. They'll get you your second card before your first one settles in. PokerStars dealers on the other hand are horribly slow. Both seem to be accurate though because there aren't ever any misdeals.

I know this is a level but if you turn off animation on pokerstars you get your card simultaneously.

Heh, I only do that when I have a one seat who insists on hunching over on the felt and/or has a massive stack designed to intercept cards destined for the 2-seat... Otherwise, I don't.

Obviously some people can live cheaper than others....

I'm thinking about going next year. I am looking at it as a working vacation. I don't expect to get rich. Our room had a couple dealers go last year and they said they did alright.

I don't see how that could be possible, either, unless the table is really short-handed.

Irritant, Players who "Decision Shop", hunt for the floor person to give them the answer they want.

I was walking around during the big tournament today on a break from dealing. I was walking by a table and the dealer asked me if we (dealers) were allowed to spread the pot?

I told her no, we were not supposed to spread the pot. A player then asked me who made that rule. I gave him the name of the shift supervisor who had told us a couple of months ago to stop spreading pots.

The player made a grumpy sound and so I walked over to the tournament director and asked him the question, knowing the answer, but I wanted to be able to say I asked the question.

I went back to the table to re enforce the answer with "I just checked and confirmed that we cannot spread the pot."

The player pointed to a floor that was standing near him and said "he just said we could."

This floor was on loan from a "sister" casino. I explained to him that I confirmed the rule with the TD and he agreed that the TD would be the final word on it.

As a dual rate, I floor on occasion, I consider myself well versed in the rules of our room. But if the answer does not suit some players, they try to find another floor who will tell them what they want to hear.

I posted this in the St. Louis thread but thought that it would also be relevant here.

One of the regs is getting frustrated and everyone is getting annoyed but no one is saying anything because he is basically feeding chips to everyone at the game.
The reg that is getting frustrated accidentally bumps the drunk arses chair and apologizes. The drunk arse accuses him of an attack and they decide that it would be best to take their argument outside. I am on the floor and my dual rate tells me that they are going to fight outside. I follow them out and get security and gaming.
They get off property and throw down, sort of, the reg knocks the guy on his a** twice. Gaming and security get to them, both guys kicked out for the night.
The drunk arse has blood all over his shirt and tries to get back into the casino.
There's nothing better than seeing two guys in their 40's or 50's throwing down.
One of the other regs followed them out and shot video on his phone. If he posts on youtube I will post the link here. STL regs should recognize the player.

Today, some young kid tried to pick a fight with a much older regular at the same table.

The room is packed due to a big tournament series going on.

When the older regular stood up, a floor (female) commanded them both to sit down and to shut up. She called for security and told both players the next one to speak was out the door for the night.

The room was noisy until she spoke up and then it was dead quiet for about 5 seconds followed by a standing ovation for the floor.

I have to say I'm a little disturbed that you're proud of this. Isn't it your job to help cool these things down before they start, or at least get security involved? It does not reflect well on your room.

Not sure why you made that post. The only two possible stories it could pertain to...

Anyone of you folk ever deal in juicey home games? I'm not a pro dealer but I used to deal a lot of Hollywood games. You know a few celebs and rich guys just splashing around. It was sick no grinders are pros are rake for that matter. The games we're usually 5/5 or 5/10 always with a straddle and not to brag but I averaged about 6 to 7 hundies a game. It is hard because they play for purely social and fun reasons so they never know the bet or when the actions on them.
Anyways do any of you LA guys have side gigs at underground or home games? Because I heard about a few big games where they recruited the dealers from the Bike or commerce.

Anyone in here deal the WSOP this year? Thinking about doing it next year. Likes? Dislikes? Opinions? I am going out there with the mindset that this is a working vacation and not thinking that I am going to get rich dealing....I know better than that. Any dealers looking to rent a spare room during that time frame?
