This happened because a casino staff member made a mistake, not because the state is out to get the players.

In the case of missing child support payments it's no different than a court being able to garnish your paycheck, which is pretty standard.

Yes, it was corrected by some suit at MGM delivering the money that they claimed that they couldn't give her because of their data error.

It's amazing what a lawyer and bad press (I suspect mostly bad press) will do to get the wheels turning on something so easy to fix.

Details on "has been corrected", plz?

I don't know the context of this one, it happened one table over:

WHITE GUY: (to Arab player) You *did* call me racist...

EVERY WHITE GUY AT THE TABLE: (in unison) YOU ARE!

Did that ball touch Edelman?

Ten minutes of replays, everyone in the room taking a position with absolute certainty. No one thinks it's a tough call. Worst case of "Everyone seeing what they *want* to see" I've ever seen.

(Don't ask me for my opinion on the play--I'm recusing myself because of obv bias.)

"has been corrected" = "woman got paid". She was paid by casino VP. It's not clear whether state fixed issue on its side, or casino decided to pay out of pocket to end bad PR.

re pats, I will repost something I posted elsewhere:

the only thing worse than having to root for the bills every year is having to see the patriots win the division, the conference, and the superbowl every year.

on the other hand, watching them lose the super bowl is at least a little bit of fun. so i still have some hope.

i mean, how well do the stars have to align for Edelman to make a boneheaded attempt to field a bouncing punt, have the ball bounce over his hands cleanly, and have 3 different camera angles, none of which show the ball missing him on their own, but when all 3 are put together showing it missed him?

Then the next play he tips it into an INT anyway. and it still doesn't matter. how lucky do you have to be to throw a game winning interception and have it undone by an offsides penalty that didn't affect anything, but was obviously the right call? someone has made a blood pact with satan.

Don't worry, those that started this 17 year curse will end it February 3.

This one is too funny. I only hope it translates on the page as well as it did in real-time. When I told the story to my girl last night, she said she wished she could've seen a video of it, and I replied, "No one would believe it, they'd call it staged and fake."

I'm dealing $2-100 spread-limit HE. The game has some action, but nothing crazy. Even the hand I'm about to describe wasn't crazy, but....well, you'll see what I mean.

I'm in a good mood for a change. The music is louder than normal, and it's my classic rock jam, and I'm into it tonight. "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" comes on, and the Phil Rizzuto baseball part is coming up when I pitch the cards for this hand.

A raise to $10, re-raise to about $45, button calls, original raiser calls. Well over $100 in there preflop, that hadn't happened all down.

As I pull in these bets, I sing along, loudly, with Phil Rizzuto: "OK, here we go! We got a real pressure cooker going on here!"

And the rest of the Rizzuto part described the play of the hand perfectly! And every time it did, I'd echo Rizzuto.

C-bet: "There it is, a LINE SHOT up the middle! Look at him go!"

Tank, about to fold, then calls: "He's out. NO HE'S SAFE! Safe at 2nd base! This kid REALLY makes things happen out there!"

And then, best of all, the river:

Guy who was betting the whole way goes all-in for $98 on the river. Next guy tanks, and we're all staring at that $98: "He's taking a pretty big lead out there, almost *daring* him to try to pick him off!" Tank guy folds, then last guy tanks.

And I swear to all that is Holy, as the final $98 call came into the pot, I got to say, "Here's the throw, here's the play at the plate!", as the music built to its frantic climax.

It was an incredible ride.

It was one of those nights where the players had tuned me out, not hearing my reminders to ante or post blinds...and I don't think anyone heard a word I said/sang the entire hand.

Or hear me do my Rizzuto voice when I tell the story. All about energy.

***

I just pushed into a game, and was greeted by the player sitting directly across from me with, "Hope you're in a better mood than that last dealer!"

Sure, i'm in a great mood, I just got here. That last guy is near the end of his shift. We're a walking Before and After.

In the first two minutes of this down, this same player:

-- caused players behind him to act out of turn by covering up his cards;

-- made every bet by silently betting stacks of chips, making the dealer break down every single one of his bets and calls;

-- coughed in my face without turning his head or covering his mouth (no, a t-shirt collar is not sufficient cover, at close range);

-- won the biggest pot of the down, no tip.

All in 2 minutes.

Can't understand why dealers aren't beaming.

Seat 1 sits down plays a few hands, says it's his first time in casino but obviously not his first time playing poker/using chips.

Apparently gets excited on a River and splashes the pot. Dealer looks at him and rolls eyes. Opponent grabs chips but is looking at the Dealer for an amount.

"Oh, I'm sorry ... I bet 50." No way for Dealer to confirm what chips are 'bet' chips the way they look in the pot and starts to recreate the action by street. "I said I bet 50." Sorry sir you can't splash the pot so I need to verify your bet.

Dealer comes up with an extra $10 in the pot. Then tries to confirm all the action with the Players and calls the Floor over. Player tells the Floor "I bet 50."

Dealer fully explains action and splashing of pot ... Opponent finally speaks up and says, "I'm probably going to call, what's the bet?"

Player immediately says .. "I must have bet 60." ... Opponent smiles and promptly folds. GL

Guy at a $1-2 table is betting out of turn, trying to induce a call in a multi-way pot, and making a general fool of himself in the first two hands of the down. And not tipping.

A few hands into the down he starts to lament. "I was at a room not long ago and I said, [i''I should call here'.[/i] And the dealer called the floor and they made me call! And I lost the hand! Can you believe it?"

Normally I'm one to just drown out this kind of talk but I feel like twisting the knife in what is obviously a sore spot. "Yeah, the floor made the right decision. You announced call."

He gets agitated. "No, I said I SHOULD call! SHOULD!"

I'm undeterred. "Should isn't a poker term. Call is. That's a call. All the dealer heard was something something something call..

A few hands later, clearly on tilt, he decided to just start going all-in, blind, pre-flop every hand. And was out the door a few minutes after that.

Good times!

Two known loudmouths got into it last night at the table behind me. For twenty minutes! The floor went to go look at the video, and these two spent that time (sarcasm)outclassing(/sarcasm) each other. It was impossible to keep my game moving, as the players were more interested in gawking. They spent more time discussing the dispute than what was happening at our table.

I didn't even turn around, I could recognize both voices....and I told my players, "One of those guys gets louder when he's right, and one gets louder when he's wrong...pretty easy to see how this one is going to go."

If a player says to a dealer:
“Get another job, or win the lotto”

How would u take that as a dealer? Or even as a player just sitting at same table?

No effect. Brush it off. Or sarcastically ask for them to buy you a ticket.

As a Dealer ... "Sir, are you coming back?" (In other words, continue working, remain 'professional')

As a Player ... I would silently continue stacking what used to be their chips .. and not offer my coaching/discussion services. GL

Miserable sore losers are the worst. I’ve defended dealers against idiots like this several times.

I'll generally give people one blowup and not care because I don't know what the player went through before I got there and I know what it's like to be a player on a downswing.

I did get tested a while back, though. First hand of the day for me someone in the 1 seat loses about $200 in $1/2NL. He screams "F- PIECE OF S- DEALERS, YOU SHOULD ALL BE F- SHOT!"

I calmly told him I needed him to refrain from cursing me out and threatening to kill me. He did not say another word as he punted off his remaining $800 over the next 10 minutes. Then he just sat there silently. No rebuy, no movement other than finishing off the beer that was just handed to him. For 15 minutes! Finally his friend comes around and announces it's time to go and they both left. It was a little scary, not knowing if he's serious and not being able to get a good look at him.
