Howard Stern was just talking about this yesterday. Said he's on vacation, chilling on a beach, and a stranger strikes up a conversation with him. Howard thinks this guy is pretty cool, they chat for a long time before parting ways. Later, Howard learns the guy is a reporter for the NY Daily News.
Howard was horrified. "What if I said something I didn't want to see in print?"
His friend Jerry Seinfeld suggested that maybe you should just be in the habit of NEVER saying such things. "That's what I do," advised Jerry. "If i said it, go ahead and print it."
Interesting. I would have assumed Howard Stern was so shameless, or more importantly in such a position to monetize literally anything controversial, that he'd assume anything ending up in print is just fine. I wonder if his comment was just fake horror over learning the guy was from the NYDN or maybe a setup line for Seinfeld.
