^^^ This is exactly why I call the GM to make that decision. Very good point.

BTW any time a BBJ is hit we are required to call either the PR Manager or Table Games Director ASAP.

It also may not be up to the casino if they pay it. WA state says casino can't pay out of player funds if the deck is void

Very true. Surely a gaming commission issue if it gets paid against the rules that they approved.

Yeah sometimes I see the small and big blind go through the "Do you want to chop?" "Jackpot hand?" dance and then they decide LOLZ let's just flip em up preflop and run it out! Then they don't end up with enough money in the pot for their aces cracked, BBJ (has never happened) or whatever.

Maybe it was his clients fault, maybe he is the guy taking cards off the table.

I was hand-shuffling once, and thought something didn't feel right...then the previous hand's winner spoke up and gave me back his two hole cards.

"I thought it felt a little light," I remarked. Everyone thought I was making a joke.

So ridiculous. I'm pissed off.
Any manager who denies time PTO during non-mandatory times (tournament series and busy holiday weekends are the only things that quickly come to mind) is a scumbag.

Well I think you need more information than that..... such as other employees taking off during that time frame .......

Even if they get enough money in to qualify I would hope the dealer would let the floor know about how this happened and that the floor would not pay a jackpot where the players openly discussed it this way and cheated.

I like the rule at both places I work, you either chop every time with your neighbor or never chop with your neighbor. It keeps me from having to be the bad guy.

So me and my neighbor chop...... and then the game gets shorted handed. I don;t like to chop in a short handed game ...... we still have to chop according to your room's rule? What if we end up playing heads up? We still chopping?

I am in the box. The players involved are not new players and are familiar with the rules of the room.

72AA

AK donks.
QQ mucks.
77 calls.

River ace.

Bye bye 20 dimes. Good job. Good effort.

I'm guessing your room has some type of a BBJ where qualifier is AAAJJ or better beaten?

I'm guessing his room has games that generate $40k pots, and those games are rarely bbj eligible (because those players don't want to pay the extra $1).

For my first 7 years dealing, when working with dead stacks in mtts I'd just deal the cards all the way to the seats and have to reach all the way or had neighboring players help kill them.

Recently I've started getting into the rhythm of being able to slap it on the table rather than pitching it without slowing my other pitches down. Makes dealing the first level(s) of a tourney so much easier. Highly recommend experimenting with it if you were stubborn like me for so long

I prefer a short pitch, rather than slapping cards down.....

Yeah I pitch a shorty in that case.

I heard the "So you deal any jackpots lately?" joke about 20 times today.

19 of them probably weren't joking, they just hope you're "due"

Our bbj is over $110k, unheard of around here (any quads). You know what that leads to?

PLAYER: Put me down for $6-12 and $8-16.

BRUSH: I've got a seat open in $2-4, if you'd like to play that while you wait.

PLAYER: Sure!

What do you do in this spot?

There's a re-raise or two preflop, and one player decides to show his neighbor the hand he is folding. Problem #1 is, the neighbor has cards. So as soon as he folds them, the dealer turns them up, announces the exposed cards (4c4s), and mucks them.

When the action gets to the 1-seat, he asks what the exposed cards were. Since we're still on the same betting round, the dealer tells him.

Learning that someone mucked a pocket pair, the same player asks, "Who folded that?"

The dealer politely explained that he can't help him with that.

"WHAT?", cried the player. "Somebody is exposing cards, and you're not going to tell me who it is?"

The dealer cited OPTAH. "One guy saw the cards, so you're entitled to know what they were. But EVERYBODY saw who did it, and you're NOT entitled to help with who did what."

Seat 1 still didn't like it. The dealer offered to call the floor for a ruling, and if the floor decided the dealer should share this info with the player, the dealer would oblige. The player declined, and the matter was dropped.

But IF the floor gets called there to rule on this, and if YOU'RE the floor...how do you rule?

First I die of shock that three players at the table didn't already tell the guy who it was....

On one hand I see where the dealer is coming from ..... It seems that a player should be expected to pay a modicum of attention to the game if he wants to gain this type of information. This type of information is completely irrelevant to the actual hand being played ...... its only relevance is to the player in his assessment of someones play in later hands.

One the other hand ..... as the dealer noted by his willingness to repeat which cards were exposed ..... the question was posed during the same betting round as the occurrence. Why would you repeat the exposed cards for a player on this basis .... but not not tell him who exposed them.

I suppose my gut feeling is that the player should be given this information though I think its trivial and in the end it won't make any difference. And because its so trivial there is a part of me that just wants to back the dealer on this because there are valid arguments on both sides and the player seems quiet unreasonable to escalate this to a floor a call. So i rule the player gets the information but I'm not offended if another floor rules the other way.

Sometimes for the sake of the pace of the game, and my sanity, I just bend the rules. I will just quickly point or glance when I get asked "Who raised?", "Who bet?" etc. Yeah I get optah but it saves a hell of alot of time, I don't get tempted to make snarky comments like, "Who raised? How about the guy with chips infront of him?" "Who's in the hand? How about all the players with cards infront of them?"

Ofcourse if we're on the flop in a PLO game and the pot is big and someone asks me who raised PF, then ofcourse I'm not going to divulge that information. In a 1/2 Holdem game my job as a dealer is pretty much baby sitting, so if I can save time and save upset, I'll try to.

But anyway, half the table will all jump up and answer the question anyway breaking the OPTAH rule. You can't tell me if someone informs seat 1 of the information he's after in your situation, you're going to impose a penalty upon them? In an ideal world no one would speak up, but it's just not like that.

Kind of like when a newby asks me..

Newby: "Dealer, how much is in the pot?"
Me: "As it's NLH, I'm afraid I can't tell you that" *While spreading the pot*
Newby: "What, that's stupid, why not?"
Seat 3, 5, and 8, none of which are in the hand, all lean forwards and start counting the pot. "£47, no, £48!"
Newby: "Cheers..." *Smiles at them, then glares at me*
Me: *Sigh.*
