This one.

2-4 limit table. On the turn, a player bets $4, a few players call, including a man in his 90's sitting in seat 5. A young kid in seat 1 raises to $8. Everyone folds except for the old man, who calls the raise.

On the river the old man checks & the kid bets $4. In this room, the 2-4 players consider it to be standard/polite to always check it down when the hand is heads up. The old man grumbles for a minute about this kid breaking the unspoken rule and folds his cards, face up, exposing that he had a middle pair. The young kid turns over his hand and reveals a complete bluff. The old man reaches across the table and smacks the kid over the top of his head with his cane.

I manage to control myself and call the floor. The old man is escorted out of the room and the kid is left to endure razzing from the rest of the table for the rest of my down.

Wow, that's both horrifying and hilarious. (Usually -EV to show bluffs anyway IMO.)

Commerce 4-8 or 6-12 LHE long story short, huge pot 2 guys all in, chick shows a flush for the side pot, THEN MUCKS WINNING FLUSH even though there is a huge main pot, Flush Chick's boyfriend flips out, first all in show 2 pair, second all in shows a straight, 2 pair guy rips his cards in half and throws them at Flush Girls boyfriend who ***** back a big punch and on the way back and elbows a lady floorperson who was running over to help, she goes down to the ground, tableis instantly broken within 30 seconds and me and some old guy are sitting there staring at each other wondering wtf just happened

~sigh~

And how the hell did you not call for floor or at least tell them to calm down? You need to be able to exercise at least some level of control over your game.

I've seen several fights and none of them were funny or amusing, none of them were over anything worth fighting about and most of them could have been prevented.

I agree, the "chick" had to table her hand. Once that happened, it can't be killed, it's obviously the winning hand.

Years ago, the first time I ever played in LA I was losing a little in a 20-40 game. I look down and have aces and put out a raise. As I am raising everyone is throwing their cards in out of turn and leaving the table. I am sitting there with the dealer and he gives me the blinds, the rest of the table went outside to fight (I don't know how many were fighting and how many were watching the fight, but at the table were me, the dealer and 8 chips stacks with no players).

I have seen three (that I can think of) that were amusing.

The first one was broken up by one of the dealers; the amusing part is he is in some martial arts hall of fame. He jump over an unoccupied poker table to get to where they were fighting and took one in each hand.

Another one that was amusing were two old people standing in line waiting for a slot gift. Apparently there was a disagreement about who was ahead in line and a guy in a scooter was taking on a woman with a walker. Security arrived before they hurt themselves.

The third one wasn't an actual fight, but I had to 86 an 80 year old man (who rode a scooter) for asking someone to fight.

My favorite fight story that I witnessed personally was in the racebook. I have no idea what it was about, two guys in line at the window just dropped their scratch sheets and went at it.

The $2 bettor was 86'd, the $100 bettor wasn't.

Uh, wow. I have been to Commerce--I even posted a pretty detailed TR in B&M--but I didn't see anything too crazy. Heard a couple fun stories from my tablemates though.

"What is this, Commerce?" is a pretty standard joke around here among staff when players exhibit subhuman behavior.

Last night, a poker player fished out his cigarettes, and took one from the pack, intending to go outside and smoke it when he got up. He dropped it on the floor, and picked it up. His friend asked, "That was on the floor, are you going to put it in your mouth???"

I thought, "There's nothing on that floor that could make the outside of that cigarette as polluted as the inside of it!"

(or is a better punchline, "You're worried about how contaminated the OUTSIDE of that cigarette is?")

Funny story from last night. I'm dealing a 2-8 spread game. Its like 3:30 in the morning. The Player in the 9 seat Is being a prick in general because he's in 4 racks and has been playing for around 10 hours. He was driving me nuts because every time he folded, instead of throwing his cards towards the center or even sliding them to the muck (like 4 inches to the left of him) he flicks them over towards the 7 seat so I constantly have to reach across the table to retrieve them.

So, he finally losses the rest of his money with what he said were aces. He then gets up, goes to the podium and grabs a pair of scissors and proceeds to cut up his player card into little pieces. Comes back and throws the remains of his card all over the table.

He is now 86'd

Well that's one way to take your leave of the joint.

I don't feel like putting this in the tipping thread but it is kinda unique (for me anyway) and I thought I would share: Last week the second I sat at a table, a player tossed me a redbird and said "That's all you'll get." I was a little unsure what this meant but apparently it meant that he would not tip when he won. Every pot I shipped him was a stiff.

Now, as it turns out, this guy is very active and easily won about 7-6 pots, a couple of them decent-sized, so I actually "lost" in the deal, though I would have "won" had he not won many pots or busted out.

My wife asked me about what I thought about it and I said "It would sure be great if every player tipped that way!" Without getting into the likes or dislikes of this, has any of you dealt to someone like this?

Only thing closer to it for me is that there's a regular that I deal too who automatically ships me a redbird as soon as I sit down, and when I ship him pots it's anywhere from two bucks to another redbird. So the first redbird is basically "hey xxxxxx how've u been how was your weekend" type of stuff. So no that hasn't happened to me

Went to the redrock tonight to play some poker. The game got short and I asked for a rake reduction the dealer called the floor, then said, she wants a rake reduction and pointed at me, I was like why would you do that, , when i am dealing i tell the floor, there has been an a reguest for a rake reduction, never do I point the player out that asked!

I actually tipped 5 bucks in the beginning for long awhile than it started to bother me when the dealer would leave only after a few hands for some reason. It wouldnt happen often but often enough. So I started to just not tip and only tip when they leave.

Well this usually caused the dealer to be disgruntled, say something about it etc and I didnt care to explain myself. Don't play often so the dealer wouldnt know me or my intentions.

In the end it was just easier to do the normal protocol.

Because 9 handed isn't short and the dealer wanted the floor to know which nit asked

I haven't had anyone tip me upfront and then not tip on other pots. But I have had players who only tipped at the end of the down. I don't mind. I am grateful for any tip anytime.

One thing I would prefer though is that you don't talk about it. I would rather you just tip me and not discuss it ..... don't give me a redbird and say "That's all your getting" just do your thing. And don;t not tip me all down and tell me you will get me later (even if you really will get me later) just do what your going to do.

We've got 50-cent chips in the rack, which are never used for the rake or for the betting, they're only there to make change for the players who want to give a 50-cent tip. Standard in the $2-4 limit game, occasional in the $3-6, rare in the $4-8, and unheard of in any game higher than that. That's not a complaint; as psandy said above, "I'm grateful for any tip any time."

The complaint is the guy who tosses you a dollar, and as you're scooping it up, he says, "Chop" (the standard way to declare you want 50 cents change). I haven't called anybody for a "string-toke" yet, but man I want to! It's like they figured out a way to slowroll the toke!

I am not going to name the person here, but he is well known for a field other than poker, but is also known to play in some very big games. I was not the dealer, but saw this. He tossed the dealer a $25 tip (purple because we are in an LA card barn), the dealer says thank you and places it in his rack; he then says "change." The dealer then takes out 5 yellows ($5 chips) and gives them to the player. The player then tosses him a yellow and he says "thank you" and puts it in his rack. He then says "change." The dealer gives him 5 ones as he is being pushed out. The dealer picks up his try to leave and then the player tosses a chip that rolls through the hole where the dealers tray was. I don't know if the dealer didn't see it or ignored it, but he made no effort to retrieve the $1. This well known person then is seen crawling on the floor underneath the table (one of the nastiest locations in a casino) picking up this dollar chip.
