I'm told that back in the 60's, the employees at the Sands in LV would bring their families to the employee dining room for dinner. That must have been some good food.

My other favorite story about the Sands: the break room was off the same hallway as the backstage area of the famous Copa Room. Dean Martin walked by one night, and saw the dealers watching a black and white tv. The next day, there was new color tv in the break room, compliments of Dino.

Was that at the Seminole casino in Tampa a few years ago. I was their when it happened. If this was at the hardrock?

The overwhemling vast majority of players I deal to are good people and problems this serious are rare in our room.

One day a regular at a 2/5 game had a friend sweating her while the friend waits for a seat. He is violating "English Only" and I have to warn him twice about doing so during hands when the regular has cards.

There is a seat with chips but the player is absent and PITA friend sits down in this seat which is next to the regular he has been sweating.

I ask him then tell him to get up a total of 3 times, call the floor, and PITA friend argues with him too but gets up. A couple of players got involved in the argument because the problem with the PITA friend and the regular he was sweating existed before I got to the table. Those players leave the table preferring to sit at empty table and wait for a new game to open.

PITA friend now gets a seat and buys in for $300. He is the BB on the first hand and manages to get all in before the flop against the UTG player.

PITA friend has Kings and flips them over as I put out the flop.

UTG player does not show until his pocket aces fill up on the river.

PITA friend says he will be re buying but has to go get money. He then gets up and leaves, we never see him again.

We had one at the slots, and as he was playing , he started to lean over to one side, never taking his finger off the button for max bet. Eventually one of the floor people saw him and got floor and on-site EMTs to the site. After the fact, we were told that he had a stroke, but, and you can't make this **** up, he actually offered the Floor Sup. $1K to leave him there and not call the EMTs so he could play longer.

I love poker, but I'd rather get treatment first.

If they did leave him, he would have probably sued them for millions. Paying $1K for a multi-million payout in a few months/years...positive EV

not really, he died in the hospital.

Fortunately I haven't yet had anyone die on my game.

Alright here's my break in story. My first night as a dealer at the local room I had been playing in for about 10 years. I get put right in the big game (20 40 limit). The floor who trained me at her house about a week prior say's to me. " Can you handle this" pfff I got this. So I get right in and start dealing. Most of the players at the table already know me by name so I am a pretty comfortable, a little overwhelmed, but comfortable. I think I am doing fine, no burn in turns, I'm getting tipped a dollar a hand sometimes two. Right before I get pushed, about the time I think I have already mastered dealing poker, one of the players ask me how I like dealing. I say it's not bad and ask am I doing a good job? Then another guy says we think your great but if you want to keep this job you should probably start raking the pot!

My mom died at Harrahs in AC and my father-in-law died at the Trop in Vegas. Both were having fun when they went, which was fast. Trust me, lots worse ways to go. It isn't easy to see it, but it is part of life. Neither would have wanted it any other way.

And for those who think casinos are evil incarnate, casinos pioneered the use of defibrillators being placed locally. Thousands of lives have been saved by this innovation because of the casino industry being a first adopter.

My first manager told me a story of dealing and having an older gentleman in the 10 seat die. A little while later a little old lady comes in and starts asking if anyone has seen her husband and says "he was sitting right here" while pointing at the chair the player had died in.

Not to mention the fact that you are on camera even before you set foot in the front door. Kinda helps when the security guys see you fall out on camera and can have the EMTs at your side in seconds.

Oh I 100% agree with all that. I just don't want to have to see it, you know what I mean.

I understand completely. If it ever does happen to you, understand that the family is grateful to you for being there and will be supportive.

You must have made a few good friends that night

I was playing at a newly opened PA casino a few weeks ago and had a dealer short the rake all night. She would forget to take rake after the turn and river and several monster pots got raked only $2 to $4 when the max rake is $6. I guess she was new and was getting distracted after the turn and river.

No one said anything (me included) and I figured it was because we were all enjoying the reduced rake all night. At this casino, dealers stay at one table a whole shift except for a handful of 20 minute breaks. When she finally leaves at the end of her shift, I ask the table, "How much do you think we saved tonight on rake?"

Nobody knew what I was talking about and most people at the table had been there over an hour and 3 had been there for 3+ hours. One guy asked how much they rake at this casino. LOL.

None of that surprises me. Some players don't even know what a rake is.

I remember a player calling a floor over once because he saw a dealer taking chips out of his pot, would of thought someone that knows how to call the floor knows what rake is

I finally got one for you guys today. Okay dbag is in the five seat next to his wife in the six. About ten hands into my down, dbag seat nine get in a pot. Pot is ~$70 on the river the final board is j9j9a. Action is on nine seat and suddenly dbag bets 30, I say "action is on him" pointing to nine. He goes "he checked, he checked!!" I go "no he didn't. Sir, you can finish you action, if you check the bet will be thirty." He snap shoves for $270 covering the dbag. Dbag tanks it up, going "there's only two hands that beat me...AJ....blah blah blah." After about three minutes he goes, I call. Seat nine turns over A9dd, I go "nines full of aces" thinking wow this can't be good. Dbag mucks his hand, and per usual I snap bury it in the muck. I push the pot, about ten seconds later he goes "I had kj." I just shake my head as everyone explains to him how dumb he is. Wife just rolls her eyes as he walks around the casino. Then I deal to him at 5/10?!?!?!

Don't they give you a fridge so you can pack your own meals? I don't think I could handle this crap.

While I certainly understand this, from a personal gain perspective... you might want to speak up next time, so said dealer doesn't get fired.

Now, if you WANTED her to get fired...
