I gave out quads five times tonight. What's the record?

Numbers 3 and 4 were the same hand, but no, no BBJ--I just put quads on the board when there were two players left.

Number 5 got eight bets in on the end (limit, ldo), board was 8822J, guy with J8 thought he had a fish on the line until he was shown 22. Of the five quads I dealt, this was the only one that featured a pocket pair.

One of our dealers, and a good friend of mine, gave his two week notice and is moving to another state. Last night was his last night working. He made his way around the room during the rotation and enjoyed the rare luxury of telling all of our worst customers how he really felt about them. I've never been so jealous of a coworker.

i had this argument with an asian floor person a little more than a year ago. i tried to explain to him that the way it is worded A8 on 88844 board is using both hole cards. i only point out he was asian, not to be racist, but to point out the language barrier of the english language and its intricacies. i gave up eventually and don't discuss it any more. i know the rule. i think it would be hilarious to find this in a rulebook at the local casino, see the hand play out as above and then have someone hire a lawyer.

Back in the day some rooms had two cards did qualify, such as A8. IIRC the taj mahal did, you could also opt out at any time when they first brought it in.

Until a few months ago when the house started seeding the jackpot at a minimum of $100k we had our qualifier as Aces full of Kings loses - both cards must play. We had one jackpot (around $30k IIRC) go out with the winner of the hand holding 74 on a board of 34434. Good times.

Now that we start at $75k (was $100k but went out 5 times in 75 days and subsequently got dropped to $75k) we use the "pocket pair for boat or quads to qualify" rule.

I was playing in a room not long ago where they paid out a high hand of the hour promotion and the rule was that only one card had to play. The board was 9999K. One player had 77 and the other had KQ. They split the pot but the KQ player won the high hand promotion.

This ended up with the 77 player eventually getting kicked out of the room because he wouldn't stop arguing the floor's ruling. "But I had the same hand as the other guy.....!" was still heard as he walked out the door.

In one room I worked i was told a floor paid out a bad beat jackpot even though we didn;t have one. (I did not see it happen so I don't know if its true or not)

We had a small BBJ and had announced that it was coming to an end on a certain date (the money was then going to go into other promotions). The day after the jackpot promotion ended .... it hit ..... and some players supposedly convinced the floor person that jackpot couldn't be cancelled until it got paid out.

When you say, "And he was right," you're not saying the guy with 77 should have won the promotional money, are you?

In this case though, Neither player had 1 card that played. They both played the board. Every place I've ever played the board takes precedent.

Really? Every place I've played, the hole card takes precedence.

But in casinos where the board takes precedence, neither player would win the promotion in that case.

I was dealing a short-handed O/8 game the other night, and one of the players, a semi-regular, is asking me a million questions: Do I work full time, what nights am I off, etc. I'm wondering, "WTF?" Then, as my down is almost over, he tells me to see him later, he'll give me his phone number, he's got a proposition for me.

Great! I've heard about dealers making money dealing home games on the side, but nobody had ever offered ME one of those! And I could use it, it's been pretty slow lately. He promised to call me on Tuesday, my next night off.

Well, he called me tonight (Tuesday), and made his offer: he wants me to sell his health and beauty supplies! MLM, I would imagine.

I just laughed at he absurdity of the whole thing. What else could I do? So much for the idea of him thinking I'm the greatest short-handed O/8 dealer he's ever seen.

Had a fun one the other day.

Checked to Seat 1, who sileny waves his hand in a "shoo shoo" motion to the next player to act, Seat 5. Seat 5 silently opens his hands in an "eh, I'm not doing anything" motion.

I announced "check" after each motion, no objections.

I put out the burn, at which point Seat 1 loudly protests that he didn't check, he was asking Seat 5 to move his hands away from his chips. When the floor arrives, Seat 5 confirms that's all he was doing, was showing his chips.

And I'm the bad guy for not being better with my ESP.

When something like this happens I have told players that the room has told me to stop reading minds and just react to words and gestures.

Players with ESP listen with their minds - not ears. If you THOUGHT check - I'll bet Seat 1 would have stopped you right away.

But they also get really annoyed with you when you double confirm that they already did check to avoid a premature! #RagingTilt

But of course! Especially if it was a pinkie check done as you were turning your head to follow the action.

He will tell you to use your contacts with the hundreds of people you meet every week to pitch the product, whatever that is.

You do not want to go there. keep your life and outside businesses out of the poker room, it will only create resentment and there is likely a company policy against it anyway.

The bigger the game, the more subtle the movement made to indicate a check. At least in my experience.
