I discovered a good, passive aggressive way to quiet the low limit high hand badgers. “Ok dealer, 8 minutes left and the high hand is still open. We’re waiting!!”

“Well I tell you what, if I don’t deal you a high hand in the next 8 minutes...just wait longer.” Gotta pause just a couple seconds before delivering the punchline. It’s worked like 3/3 so far!

YTF's passing is hitting me unusually hard considering I never met him in person or corresponded with him outside of these forums.
I really hope there is a way to collect his stories in an actual book. I know I'd buy it.

I don't know-- the part about the thread beingfor YTF appreciation sounds awkward to me. After the well deserved posts commenting on his contributions have been posted, it doesnt seem like going forward a purpose of thethread is to continue to be about appreciating YTF. If it is I standcorrected. But it's hard to imagine months or years from now the thread will be about YTF stories. Seems to me that it would be cleaner to work YTF into the title somewhere.

Anyways, a drunk player was talking with another player, asking his name, etc. The sober player mentioned he's flying home to Michigan later that day. Drunk guy then asks where he's from. He also asked the same player if he gambled much...while they were both playing at a poker table.

I really don’t understand how anyone could have a problem with the new thread rename. YTF was a staple in this thread and kept it going for a long time.

The change makes literally no difference in terms of figuring out what this thread is for.

Do some people just lack respect?

I was in favor of the title change, but I do see both sides. At the end of the day, the title still makes the purpose of the thread clear so what’s the harm?

Hi folks, if anyone has suggestions for a better title, please feel free to post it here, and if there's a groundswell of support Lattimer and I will of course consider changing it. Or you can PM it to us, and if we like it we will post it for feedback on your behalf. (Obviously if it starts to overwhelm the thread maybe I'll move it all into a separate thread or something, but I'm not expecting it at this point.)

You are certainly welcome to continue to discuss whether it should have been renamed if you wish, but the change has already happened so I'm not sure it will be very productive. And again, if it starts derailing the thread itself, I'll probably end up moving it to its own thread.

Either way, as you argue please be courteous to those who do not share your opinions.

How about "Bobby's Breakroom: a place for gaming employee chatter dedicated to the memory of You Talk Funny"?

And then have the blurb in post#1 that tells about YTF and explains that Bobby was YTF's name, since most posters will have no idea who Bobby refers to.

I've seen this somewhere before ... I agree that as time passes newcomers may not see the relevance of the title but in a world where buildings have sponsors I think that most will figure it out. The important information is there .. 'Gaming Employee Breakroom and Chatter Thread' ... which is supposed to drive the traffic anyway.

A blurb in the fixed post can delve deeper in the memorial aspect of the title. GL

PS .. I think spelling out the YTF part is better, but perhaps it may generate some curiosity as well.

Table full of young kids that are rowdy, drunk, and are doing the weird live thing where there’s a running play by play on every hand that they all feel the need to participate in. I say one player per hand and someone says, “we can do whatever the **** we want!” Uh, ok...

The super drunk guy loses a hand to the other super drunk guy. The guy that lost challenges the other to flip a coin for a hundred. I tell them that they can’t. One guy who keeps goading them on says, “we’re crazy gamblers, we’re just having fun dealer, lighten up. Anyway, you can’t do ****.” They do it anyway.

So I call the floor over. He’s a new floor. I tell him the situation and he agrees with them! So I shrug because I did my job. Now they feel emboldened so they’re getting louder and louder. So the head floor comes over and tells them to knock that **** off and quiet down, tells them to stop doing props, and tells them to stop talking during the hands.

I realize that I’m never calling that first floor over again.

Anyway the table breaks and one stupid kid who was a non-tipper throws me a dollar and tells me I would be a great dealer if I just “lighten up a little”. I guess lighten up means allowing anarchy to reign for some people.

How do you have a choice? What if the only floor in your section is that floorman?

In the situation he described, calling a floor isn't exactly needed. In fact, the only reason he called the floor at all, and I'm just guessing, is because he assumed the floor would back him up. So from now on when he needs a floor to have his back he will not call for one if that's his only guy.

I called the floor for backup on a no brainer decision and he still managed to screw it up. Rather just have no floor.

I want the title of this thread to have "Gaming Employee Chatter" or something to that effect somewhere near enough the beginning so it doesn't get lost, I'd like YTF somewhere in there, and I don't want it to be too crazy long. I don't know him as Bobby but if others like that name, fine.
