Perhaps you should look into getting him a custom "Missed Playoffs" button?

I do know of one casino (not in the US) where they started fining dealers if any missed blind buttons went missing during their down. Apparently some players had gotten in the habit of sneaking them off the table during dealer switches so they wouldn't have to post and this was their solution.

The tournament players no longer get to have their hands in the pockets of the live game players and take their jackpot drop to pump up their tournament prize pool!

THE SKY IS LITERALLY FALLING!!!!!1111ELEVEN1!!

Are tourney players seriously complaining about that? The cash game players should have been complaining previously.

Sky falling here, too: Aces Cracked on Wednesdays is back. No dealer is happy about it.

But I'll not complain--at least management TRIED it. They decided to bring it back, I'm sure they had a reason to do so. And this time, the payouts are smaller, lessening the incentive to sit there and fold KK>>72o.

This started tonight, and we were markedly busier than we've been in weeks. I don't know if that's a product of the promo, or just the end of the Christmas lull--prob a little of both.

***

Seat 9 folds. As I reach for his cards, Seat 10 tosses in his call. These chips bounce off my extended hand, right back to the caller.

"Rejected!", cried another player in a pretty good Marv Albert impression.

I smiled, and gave Seat 10 the Motumbo slow one-finger wave.

***

How come the Bitcoin guy always sounds like he's on coke when he boasts about his Bitcoin? How come he's the loudest guy? How come he's always sitting right next to my ear?

I needed to announce a raise or an all-in or something, and said it just loud enough that I could hear myself over this guy--or loud enough to be heard outside, same thing. An amused reg teased me, "Hold it down, YTF, I got a headache!"

"YOU got a headache?", I retorted. "Come sit next to EF Hutton over here!"

Wow! I never thought I'd hear that one again. When YTF talks, people listen.

What's interesting about this comment is that probably more than half the table doesn't know if this is a complement or jab.

"EF who?" ... "Didn't he shoot a President?" GL

I was thinking the same thing. EF Hutton merged in 1987 with Shearson Lehman and the Hutton name was abandoned completely in 1990.

It's ridiculous to the point of being pitiful. There is a contingent that seems to insist that the only reason the poker room exists is so that they can play a 15 minute level 40 dollar donkament four days a week and have the prize pool pumped up by patrons paying actual rake.

YTF: Are you guys engaged in some sort of contest to see who can be the biggest jerk? Did you wager on this, or something? Are these guys (pointing to other players at the table) the judges?

No, that wasn't what I *wanted* to say, I actually *spoke* these words the other night. Two 18-year-olds on my left, one 30-something on my right, after 20 mins of nonstop--literally, relentlessly nonstop--trading of insults.

It started long before I got there, I spent the down before as the chip runner, and overheard some of this as I'd pass by that table. But it had reached "relentless" status as I stood there waiting to push in, so I grabbed a nearby floorman and told him, "Come listen to this nonsense I'm about to push into, so you'll have some context when I inevitably call you over."

This floorman is a good floorman, and he not only observed, but made sure these idiots knew they were being monitored by someone who could actually do something about it. They calmed down, he moved on to other things, and the older guy told the kids with a laugh, "They called the floor on us!" The kids laughed too. And then it started all over again.

It was giving me a headache, making me miserable about the career choice I made all those years ago, and I finally blurted out my questions. I thought, at the very least, they'd step back a little if someone pointed out they sounded like jerks. No such luck. One of the kids actually said, "This is the most fun I've had playing poker in a long time!", and other kid agreed with this enthusiastically. Jerks gonna jerk, I guess, and they were really enjoying this newfound freedom to jerk.

It stopped being fun for this kid, though, when he got involved in a big pot against his nemesis and overplayed a 72s. He made it clear he only played a big pot with that junk because the chance to make the other guy steam was irresistible. IOW, he fell right into the trap the other guy was setting, getting him emotionally involved enough to play bad. The kid racked up and left at that point (he was probably planning to leave soon any way, I see a lot of folks try one last ridiculous bluff right before they leave), and the other kid racked up right behind him.

I used to say we were overpaid in this line of work. I no longer feel that way. I'm only now realizing: we're not paid to pitch the cards and run the game--we're paid to put up with this nonsense, day after day after day.

I don't know why, but that reminded me of a razz player paying extra to have what he wanted. There was a heads up razz game going on a daily basis. One of the players was barred form the competing casinos, so the game took place where I was employed. They settled on what the rake would be every half hour. Then when the game was underway, the problem child was told that he could not throw cards at the dealer. He renegotiated for a higher drop that allowed him to throw cards at the dealer.

Is the dealer allowed to throw the cards back? Does the extra $ go to the dealer that has to put up with him?

Just kidding, I'm pretty sure I know both answers.

I'd have to really need a job to allow some POS to chuck cards at me while I'm doing it.

I think it did all go to the dealer. They agreed to have the same dealer all the time, so he would go out of the rotation and deal to them when the game happened.

That was a different time. I don't think I ever dealt a shift there where a player did not throw cards overhand at me.

quick checkup please:

Dealer is ready to put out a flop, and as they are collecting the preflop bets, they bump the stub with their free hand and the top two cards come off the top of the deck and land on the felt face up. The cards bounce around a bit so there's no way to discern which card was supposed to be the burn and which was supposed to be part of the flop, and the dealer readily admits to having no idea which card is which. Dealer then calls the floor over to explain how bad of a dealer they are.

Wat do?

Wat do?

Have the dealer mix (wash) the two cards and make one of them the burn and the other the first card for the flop. The next two cards in the deck are the 2nd and 3rd card for the flop.

I found this mildly amusing tonight: first hand after a new set-up was brought in, UTG limps. His body language indicates that he KNOWS he's making a bad call, but he explains he's playing this junk because "It's the first hand from the new shoe!"
