YTF, think back to the time before, during and after your trip to Florida.

Now, would you rather deal with cards on chips pushed into the pot or that period of time?

He never tipped me after the floor explained to him that he could not touch other players chips.

I know a guy that works the cage at one of the KC casinos. Some old guy hit a bad beat for half of $360k and didn't tip at all. Dealer was throwing things in the break room.

I ain't a dealer, but it annoys me because it so obviously slows the dealer down. At least in YTF's vent, the player is trying to get the cards and chips closer to the dealer--good plan, imperfect execution.

One small notch more annoying are people who are on the button and place their bet on top of the button. Now the dealer can't just sweep it in, he has to separate the bet from the button. And there is no benefit to this at all. Put the bet in front of the button if you want to be helpful and get it close to the dealer, put it on the table if you can't/won't reach in front.

Mind you, on the grand 1-10 scale of poker table annoyances, YTF's complaint is about a 1.5 and the button bet overlayers are about a 2.0. The button overlayers are more annoying simply because there is no purpose to it.

Appreciate you sharing the story! Just be careful mentioning the T-word in this thread. It brings in people from the cesspool thread that just want to start fights.

Dealer right now in the game I'm playing
"hey you guys are slowing down the rake"
The delivery was solid.

Hi fellas, it's my first time posting here. Been working as a dealer for about 7 months now. Was a fun job at first but to be honest it's really tiresome and I feel like I am on the wrong side of the table alot (more +ev to play).

Haha, I would be a huge fan of this and am generally quiet by nature. Was actually playing a few days ago and the dealers made lots of silly comment sand I was like wtf shut up and deal! Ie board is TT9xx and theres a bet and a fold in a 100+ pot and the winner flashes a single 9 and the dealer announces full house 9s.
We have one dealer that all the players hate cuz he talks too much and always says the miseur or whatever. He also "sings" hands at showdown. and here ladies and gentleman we have a FULL house OMG. Yesterday someone had a royal in omaha and he anounced royal (i hear this 3 tables away). A minute later I hear the player who won the pot say muck the damn cards and start dealing the next hand. "But it's my first royal and it's special to me" <-- dealer.
Today we're pulling boxes and one of the "slides" that locks the top of the box doesnt lock in and the floor explains it will cut your finger clean off (if you are messing with the key trying to lock it after its out of table). I joking move my hand toward the opening and another dealer says "no not you, you might need your fingers; unlike xx (dealer from earlier) he has no chance.

I announce all hands at showdown, unless someone turns up a Royal. Then, I just say, "Does anyone know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?"

I love this, I'm stealing it for the next "Royale" I deal.

I'll take the over on that. Lots of film buffs where I deal.

And you hardly ever hear quotes from that poker film with Matt what's his name.

Who invented the tradition of folding from the blinds by sliding your cards underneath your bet and pushing it all in toward the dealer??? I HATE THIS!!! Now I've got a pile of cards and chips that need to be sorted. Cards go to the muck, chips go to the pot. And when both blinds do this in harmony, I've got a HUGE pile to sort now!

And I never hear dealers complain about this, which makes me think I'm the only one it bothers. Since the dealers don't bitch about it, the players keep doing it.

I guess I just wanted to vent that, and also ask, "Does this annoy other dealers?"
LOL i am a player who does this. I always thought i was helping out. I started doing it with one lady whos arms where really short. And when i do it most dealers say "thanks"
I guess if it messed you up i could see getting upset. But i play mostly at a Charity Hall in Michigan and have a pretty good reputation of being honest. As most of them ask me to cash in their Tips for them. (Michigan the dealers are not allowed to touch the chips)

I just sweep in the button with the bets. It's easier to dig the button out of the pot and put it back, than it is to separate the bet from the button.

A guy tonight got rivered by a guy in a vintage Soviet hockey jersey (red with white CCCP crest). For close to a minute, he refused to table his hand or muck his cards, he just sat there seething (don't blame me, I wasn't dealing, I was playing and not involved in the hand; frankly, I was hoping the dealer was as interested as I was to see how long he planned to hold up the game).

Finally, at the dealer's urging, he surrendered his cards--but not before promising to never tip this dealer again, and not before making a crack about the Russian hockey team wiped out in a plane crash this week.

You know what's wrong with this world? PEOPLE!

Oh in Michigan the Dealers are not allowed to touch their chips that where Given to them as Tips. So they usually try to find someone that they trust.

Are they not allowed to take tips, so it's all under the table? Or are they having you cash them to get around taxes? Or are they allowed to take tips, but not in the form of chips?

ok i will try to explain it better i guess.
In Michigan, Only in the charity halls. Players used to not be able to Tip the dealers. Recently, (sometime after black friday) Michigan changed the law from what i understand, that players where allowed to Tip the dealers. The only problem is that the dealers are not allowed to touch the poker chips that the players Tip them with. From what i understand. If the Dealer touches the chips at any point. It may cost the Charity hall its license.

I don't really understand why the law is this way. I only play at two different Charity halls. I have Asked this question 3 different times, thinking that maybe someone was mistaken. And a 4th Time the Owner of one of the Charity hall (snookers) Said something similar. I hope that i didn't misunderstand what he was saying. Or maybe not type it in a way that could be understood.

Personally i don't agree with the rule. But i guess they want to keep it so that the Charity halls don't get screwed. And the Dealers Don't Give themselfs extra Money for Tips or something. I am not entirely sure to be honest as they hope or trust the dealers to take out the proper rake. but they don't trust them to not put money in their pocket.

It's to prevent theft. If a dealer isn't supposed to be in possesion of chips, they are less likely to steal said chips. Cashing them out for the dealers pretty much defeats the purpose.

So how does the dealer accept the tip if he can't touch it?
