Was on stand-by so I grabbed a broom and started sweeping up the room and a former NL Central LOOGY sitting in a spread game calls out to me what a nice job I'm doing. I told the table that I was given the choice of sweeping or starting the omaha game. I ain't no fool. Table cracked up.

I am so using that line some day.

(I remain the only dealer in my room who seems to know where the broom is kept.)

Half the time I wonder if some of my dealers even know what a broom is.

When the PAD department helps me deal I'll help them sweep up.

Are you critical of your janitorial staff for not dealing cards?

Charity poker room, the best I can hope for in a janitorial team are the girls of the Bunny Rescue Organization.

If this also entail being very small I am more tolerant of this sort of thing.

Don't get me wrong .... its not that I never pitch in to do something beyond my job..... Its that I don't think its fair for you expect me to do it. (and in some scenarios I understand that the job may include various duties.... I've never really been upset at jobs where I was expected to run chips .... but I have come to be very annoyed at my current employers practice of deliberating understaffing with chip runners in a room that clearly needs better staffing ... because they would rather pay me my smaller dealer wages than the higher amount they pay chip runners (yes I recognize that with tips I make more .... but that is only true for the time I am dealing not running chips.) In a smaller room it having a chip runner may not make sense so I don;t mind that there isn't one.

Waiting to push into a tournament, watch a huge pot break out. Button shoves the turn with a flush draw, gets hero-called by bottom pair. Bottom pair holds up.

I push in. Guy who just lost can not shut up about it. "How can you call that?" He asked several times. Winner just stacked the chips, ignoring him.

Two guys at the far end start to quietly, respectfully analyze the plays they saw in that hand. Loser is EAGER to join/barge into the discussion. "How can he CALL that???" They had no answer for him, either. But he could not stop repeating that question.

After a while, the guy who won the pot was getting annoyed, and snapped, "Because I knew you had nothing but a flush draw."

"Oh really? I couldn't have the ace there?"

"I knew you didn't have the ace. I knew exactly what you had." His tone was eerie. "Quiet confidence" does not begin to describe it. He sounded like a Man schooling a Boy, like "one of us knows what he's talking about here, and it isn't you, so why don't you just stop talking for a while?"

The kid wasn't ready to quit. "But...if I HAD the ace, I would have played it EXACTLY the same way..."

The man has said his piece. "Okay," conceding that point, in a tone that indicates that he doesn't believe for a moment that the kid would have played an ace that way.

The kid was completely unnerved by the man's confidence, and by the way the man just completely saw right through him. But being a kid, he still can't shut up. "How can he call that?", he asks no one, for the 87th time, in frustration.

The man slumps, and makes an annoyed poker clack sound, indicating, "How much more of this am I gonna have to listen to?"...turned to the kid...took a deep breath to say something long or loud...

The kid sensed this annoyance, and with a newfound respect in his tone, quickly clarified, "No no, I meant it as a compliment!"

The man didn't notice the respectful tone, wasn't buying these words, and considered how to parry this passive-aggression, when I jumped in: "You disguise your compliments pretty well."

"Who, me?"

"Yeah! You were ten minutes into this before we found out it was a compliment!"

The kid finally stopped talking and played cards.

A few hands later, the man busted him. He left without a word.

Whelp. They finally got to me today. I had to call over the floor to confirm that the new policy I had just found out about while dealing the game was correct, and I literally laughed out loud at how ridiculously stupid it was in front of all the players.

Yesterday I heard 8 different tournament players spread across multiple tables complain that the temperature in the room was perfect. Last week it had been cold so they brought jackets and were upset that they didn't need them.

I'll let you guess what game they were playing.

AAA flop. A turn. River K. 4 ways no betting. Chop it up.

in before discussion about the last player not betting the nuts.

Back when NL was stupid-juicy, I put out a board of AAAAx in a $2-5 game. Two guys reraised each other until all-in, about $1000 each.

At showdown, first tabled his hand, announcing proudly, "I have the Jack!"

It was good.

I decided to start playing NL cash games.

dealing cash, table had just calmed down from a frenzy of social talking and was a bit quiet, flop comes 222, just as the 3rd deuce hit, someones phone with the 'duck quacking' text alert started to go off - eerie

It's a typing issue not a comprehension issue. I understand the difference but my fingers just type what they want without regard for what my brain knows.
